Jordan,

I wouldn't wait too long to refinish them. I noticed the red was fading noticeably every time I would wash the car. One of my calipers is actually a darker shade of orange due to the fading, and that was the reason I refinished mine.

Long term solution may be to just have the calipers removed and powdercoated.

C43 AMG Sedan Update GLE 43 SVU - A200 W177
Strange... I have only 2 Calipers on the drivers side with clear and red paint coming off them.
The other 2 are in good nick.
I dropped the car down to the dealer and they are taking it up with MB.
Car is out of warranty by 12 months.
Let's see what happens.

Yep, that is what I did. Now they look better than new/MB offerings.

MBUSA and dealer offered me 10% off parts and labor to "help me out" on replacement calipers today.

*** Update ***
Dealer called on my drive in this morning and advised MBUSA and them hey had further discussions and they are now happy to refinish the calipers to factory spec at no cost.

Take it to your local dealership. This might be covered under warranty depending on the dealership, from what some here have said. Mine unfortunately was not, so I sprayed them up myself.

As long as it doesn't look like debris or rocks caused the start of it, you should be able to get it replaced. Each one of mine just had a small knick somewhere on the caliper that they assumed caused/started the peeling, only reason why mine was declined.

Going to have to look closely at mine then for rock chips etc. Just looking through the wheels, and seeing them peeling made my tummy hurt.
Talked to the dealership and they said "hahahaha good one" when I asked to have them repaired under warranty.

Maybe if there is no apparent rock chips they'll change their tune? I'd sure love to get them re-finished anyways in the copper/orange colour vs the red..

MB said they will not fix them.

I tried I'll get 2 of them repainted. I'm just now waiting for Decals to arrive from the US.

Notice the clear coat almost completely gone.

Soft bristle wheel brush with dawn soap to get rid of grease and brake dust.

I waited about an hour to let it dry in the the sun.

While I was at it, I might as well clean up the inner part of the rotor so I used sand paper & steel wool to remove the rust.

Used Brakleen to clean the residue.

Mask away ...

VHT paint high temp paint.

I used 1 light coat to start off then 3 heavier coats after. I let it dry about 15 to 20 minutes between each coat.

Back to the calipers. I used model paint to touch up some small nicks. Let it dry for about 10 minutes.

Better than before.

Dupli-color High temp gloss clear. I did 1 light coat and then 4 heavier coats letting it dry for 15 to 20 minutes between each coat.

Finished product....

Its been about 4 months and they look perfect. I do use an electric pressure washer from a safe distance but I don't see any signs of wearing.
Coral Gables dealer did not want to cover them under warranty, they suck.

I will follow the steps. Great job thou!

Thank you. Mercedes of Miami didn't cover this under warranty either.

Call MBUSA and open a case guys. That's what I did. Have your dealer info and service advisor info ready. If you know the exact date and service order number that you made the claim on the calipers too even better.

Took MBUSA less than 4 hours to call me back. I have made my MBUSA rep aware of this thread. They will take care of you! Just call the 800 number and open a case!

The CAC is 800-367-6372. My agent was Ralph and he was awesome! His extension was 6229. Not sure if you want to go direct or what. But I called the main number and within 4 hours Ralph called me. I wasn't happy with the first offer, and in about 60 minutes they agreed to refinish them for me at no cost.

2011 P31, 30,500 miles, 2nd owner, 1st registered complaint 6mo outside of 4yr/50k. I currently own the C63 and an ML63, traded a c300 on the ML. That is my total MB history. I only mention this as MBUSA uses all of this to determine their willingness to "indulge your whimsy" if you will. Your factory service, parts buying and vehicle purchase history matter.

Good luck.

Mike,
Can you confirm which Tester's paint code you used? I've heard both 1103 and 1104TT. Yours came out great, so I'd love to replicate your results.
Thanks!

Just ordered model brushes, VHT Real red caliper paint, and the Duplicolor clear coat recommended here. My front passenger caliper has developed a chip, likely this winter, so I will have to do this DIY to repair. Maybe Ill spray some clear on the other calipers for extra strength.
