Looking To Purchase A C63?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a 2012/13 C63 Saloon to be used as a daily driver (family of 4). I've seen reports of the Headbolt Issue, but am I right in believing this was ONLY on Pre-Facelift vehicles?
What is the MPG really like - it's not of the utmost importance but I'd like to know, the tyres I already know will be an expense, along with brakes.

What is the rest of the reliability like? I mean any little thing? I've lived with a Lexus since '07 with very minimal issues, so it's very important.

I already know the differences between Standard - PP - 507 - Black so that doesn't factor into my decision.

I'm really looking for Past/Present C63 owners for help, really excited if everything checks out

Thanks,

MPG depends on how much spirited driving you do. Keep it in C mode and do a lot of highway, you will get 20+. Do a mix of spirited and highway (which I do), I get around 14-17. I havn't had anything come up in in the couple of months I've had my 2013 besides a dim DRL. If your car is under warranty..a lot can be replaced easily. It pretty much has the normal maintenance that goes with any car. Just find one, get it, and let the sound of your C63 will drown out any worries left.

Why are brakes expensive? I have 86,000km just doing pads for the first time now. Rotors are still good.

I'm judging you're British, since you use the word "saloon" in a sentence that doesn't involve the wild west.
Note that US mpg and UK mpg are completely different… As mentioned, it all depends on how you drive -- highway with steady cruising and it's ~10 L/100km, and mine is not even broken in fully. Stop and go city driving in rush hour and it's ~20 L/100km.

I also came from a Lexus. Generally, the M156 seems very reliable. There are very few complaints on this Forum about reliability -- look at the M3/4 forums and there are many more complaints. But, the C63 is not a Lexus. Plan for 1-2 unscheduled service visits per year, in my estimation.
Well worth it though - driving a Lexus is most like the feeling of being dead, I imagine.
