Remove EC Tune with MyGenius?
Hi guys,
Any instructions on how to do this?
My first service is due and I want to take it off just to be safe...or is there really not much point? I don't have any major mods otherwise, just a secondary cat-delete.

You don't so much remove it as put the original tune back on. So go through all the steps you did to write the EC tune, but instead of writing the V5 tune or whatever they named it as, write the file labeled original or something to that effect.

I haven't done it yet but I asked Jerry about this a couple weeks ago. By flashing the V5 tune, the myGenius now has the stock tune file. Go through the same procedure as you did to flash it and the stock tune should be your only choice. Let us know how it comes out.

I am getting ready to bring the car in for a schedule A as well. Are there any downsides to flashing the ECU to stock? Is there a counter that tracks ECU are-flash? Would MB connect to the computer during a schedule A?

Corner junkie,
After my Eurocharge V5 flash I can read CATYLIST and O2 NOT READY with my OBD2 reader. I can confirm the car will also fail DEQ (Emissions) in Oregon in this condition (as it should). I believe Eurocharge does this intentionally so people running LTH do not throw a CEL. After doing some further research I am going to flash the car stock before the schedule A.
Edit: I called Eurocharge with this question and they confirmed it is normal behavior after a tune.

I'm really curious as to how easy this is. If you do it can you post a how to possibly. Or at least explain the process. I used to a cobb accessport that you just clicked stock tune and boom
Done. Maybe that's this is not sure. Now with cobb you had to uninstall the tuner for it to put the actually original file back on is that how this one works.

I had no issue reverting to the stock tune with the mygenius to pass emissions. Plug the mygenius into the OBD2 and follow the on screen instructions. When it says 'turn the dashboard on' that means you push the 'start' button twice with out depressing the brake pedal. That's kind of like having the key in the run position without the motor running. The gauges in the instrument cluster will be reading if the dashboard is on. To turn the dashboard off just press the 'start' button again. Just pay attention to what you are doing and it should work.

I know with previous non MB cars, when flashing back to stock, there is a period of time required before the O2s will 'ready up'. In my Shelby it was almost 300 miles and I had to perform a specific procedure. I wonder if flashing back to stock turns them back on immediately or if there is a similar cycle (in the case of our cars).

Hey guys.
To somewhat conclude this, I removed the tune tonight. No issues, just the same as it went on.
I don't know if the dealer would try to screw me because of it, but better safe than sorry.
I expected the car to feel slow with no tune but it doesn't, it's just less frantic 5000rpm+ and doesn't break traction nearly as much. It's still a beast but throttle blips are weak now .

Sorry to jack your thread OP. I didn't want to start a new thread but does anyone know if i can simply buy someone's EC Handheld tune if they were selling it? Does EC need to code to activate it remotely?

Please disregard my question. I remember reading that the tune is VIN coded to your car. My apologies.

A used My Genius shouldn't run you too many $$$.
