Lots of new guys talking up MHP lately. I wonder how many new accounts Andy has created...

I have their headers and tune. Very happy with their products as well as service. I also know Andy Cluck - the owner - personally - he actually joined a track day I had organized and showed their 500 hp CLA45 there. I also know MHP did Dads C63 - a legend in the field.

There are several posts with issues in the past and several influential members here hate MHP with a vengeance. MHP is banned from this site, so it is hard to get the real story without MHP getting a chance to respond.

I am personally struggling with the market for our cars being so limited (for example headers). MHPs headers (made by ARH) are adding a lot of value to the owner community - at least in my opinion and having them on my car for 7,000 miles now.

In summary from what I read about that company:

Locals gets priorities = happy campers

Long distance customers = not happy with Fedex lol

I think Roswell has it. If you are happy with Andy's products everything is very good. If there are problems, of almost any description, Andy's customer service can be very disappointing leaving customers very upset.

As far as Andy being barred on here that is of his own doing. If you read some of the old posts and attacks by Andy you will get a good appreciation of why he was banned. Andy is a drama queen and instigator of trouble with customers, members and other vendors. In my opinion you will never get the real story from Andy Cluck, just more drama, intimidation tactics and lies. I can live without it.

No offense and my apologies to Dads63, Wobble64 and anyone else that has managed to achieve a good working relationship with Andy. He can help and support some members in their effort to push the limits and advance the performance of their cars. There just seems to be two distinct sides to the coin Andy represents. It is like dealing with a split personality. GL to those that don't make it onto the A side.

Modern Horsepower

I had a problem as soon as the ARH American Racing Headers went on. Carbon everywhere, Plugs fouling, O2 Sensors Plugged with Carbon. Went for Emmisions and it failed even with the Cats on. Passed the ODBII but when I pulled in and they heard the exhaust and smelled the fuel in the exhaust, they put the sniffers on my tail Pipes - and It FAILED BIG TIME. Tried to work with them, but the only thing they said was swap your O2 Sensors. - The first sign - Check Engine Bank 1 Rich

Enough Carbon built up I replaced 1 Upstream Sensor and swapped them with no change

I keep saying the ECU was not tuned for LT Headers and guess what - it was not.

I was a Service Manager for Computer Companies for 20 years. I did what ever it took to keep evey customer Happy, I never told anyone I Qoute "Wasting there time" I retired at 45. I'm 57 now and no one treats me like that - No one

Went to Weistec for a LT Header tune With enormas Air Intake - Result Problem solved

The guy I spoke with said there is no Andy and Never Was - JERK

I had good results until I had a problem after ARH Installed, and keep changing O2 Sensors.

If you use them GOOD LUCK

Tried Renntech - and when I said MHP - they said sorry but we cannot help you.

They are Fired.

Weitec actually answers the phone and you get to talk with people with an open Mind - Refreshing

Matt, very sorry to hear about your issues!

You are not saying, but may we assume that when you put the headers in, you also got the ECU flashed?

Finally, when you say with the Weistec tune your problem is solved, did you now pass the emissions test?

Are running cats?

Wobble64,

Sorry this is a bit wordy.

The ECU was the first modification i made to the car. I chose MHP pretty much from Cost

When I ordered the ECU tune, I spoke with Andy. He asked if I would ever upgrade to the LT Headers and I stated "Yes" He told me he would include it in the ECU tune. I did not give it much thought. It was not until I ordered the Headers that I started to wonder about the included tune for LT Headers. I was also Pissed Off that they were drop shipped from ARH. My car was running great, how could the ECU be pre-programmed for something not on the car, it made no sense. To this day, MHP claim my ECU was tuned with the LT Headers, and all my problems were O2 Sensors. I swapped them from one bank to the other, I also bought a new one from the Dealer After all this work swiching parts around when I drove the car and It made know difference, No power, no torque from what she was before the Headers were installed.

There was no way I was going to send the ECU to MHP, so I sent it off to Weistec. Other tuners did not want to get in the Middle of a problem.

I explained everythng to Zack and the Tech Andy at Weistec - So they knew everything on the car to date. When I got the ECU back from Weistec, the car ran great. No fumes of Gas in the Exhaust, no back fires from fuel in the headers, No errors of Bank 1 running Rich

I had the cats put on after recieving the Emmisions test papers. After the CATS were installed the car ran MUCH better, more power and Torque. The CATS added a restriction, which boosted the performance, when it should be the other was around.

It was then I was convinced the ECU was never tuned for the LT Headers, It makes no sense to do an adjustment based on stock pipes and no time frame when the Headers would be ordered.

Monday - Tommorrow she goes back for the Emmisions test, and I bet she will pass with flying colors, even if they use the Sniffers as well as the ODBII port, which I have already checked with and Accutron Test unit

"MHP Rep Aaron Nicora, Sales", Told me I never could have spoken to anyone named Andy EVER. When I ordered the ECU uprade in the 1st place I entered all the Phone and People into my Phone MHP is shown Modern Horsepower - Andy.

MHP rep lol. he has no one working for him his a one man basement office job that buys parts and tunes from A and sells them to B for a markup to make a doller or two.

ANDY got the best of me after a long relation ship. it all came down to him Glueing my ecu(s) and wanting me to pay for my stock tune and to repay for more tuning to fix the issue.
stay away. far away from MHP.

Ya you need a specific tune for headers. You can't run a header tune on a non header car or vise versa.

Glad you got it sorted. Weistec is good for helping you out when others ran away.

Matt, difficult to understand what exactly happened, but this may help:
1. An ECU only holds one tune at a time. Maybe they generated a header tune file for your ECU at the same time as the non header tune and kept it on their system for when you'd come back. That is easy to do for them. You would still have to get the ECU to them to swap the files.
2. I cannot see a reason why an engine would run rich only due to a header install. If anything, it might run leaner. There was sometime else going on there.

God luck with the emission testing.

Wobble is right, you'd run lean with headers. More air flow. Does seem very weird.

If you installed cats and it ran better that is even weirder because If it was running rich, cats would make it even more rich. Doesn't right that cats would help the situation. Seems like something more is going on here.

Did you run the tune before installing headers? How was it?
