Found an installer. Will be installed tomorrow AM.

Just curious, several of you guys call these logs. From my understanding, these are not logs but shorties. Logs are these:

How about some headers for the M156-screen-20shot-202015-02-28-20at-208.45.23-20am.png

Shorties are these:
How about some headers for the M156-photo3-11.jpg

and LTs' are LT's.

Am I wrong?

Think you have the terminology correct. There are mid length as well and some people refer to them as LTs but that is not technically correct. See the sticky for a more detailed description of the various header varieties.

I've been a member for 6 years and this is my third modded AMG. I know I have the terminology correct Mort, just being humble about teaching some of these guys what they're looking at.

Eh, logs or shorty neither will give the power of lth. They looked like logs on my phone but I see on a larger screen the tubes are longer

that came off harsher than it intended to be, but just because the wrong term is used doesn't mean someone doesn't know anything

I didn't imply that you don't know anything. It's just that your comment seemed like you were shooting down the product, or rather comparing it to something much more expensive and exclusive. Not everyone can afford LT's. I bet if there was a $1000 option for LT's everyone would have them. We all know that LT's will make the most amount of power, and to state that is fine. But, to say in a thread regarding a product that it'll never be as good as something else is not fair. Especially when the whole purpose of this product is to give you and everyone else an affordable alternative. That's like me saying to someone who just spent the last year, and thousands of dollars modding, "Eh, cool car but it'll never be a Ferrari." I was just teasing about you and buying a set. If you are interested, I would be happy to set you up.

Anyhow, car is under the knife and I will post video clip of sound. We will be on the dyno Monday morning.

i'm anxious to see the dyno results and yes you are right not every can afford lth i know i can't justify the cost of them since i'm not out there racing. I didn't mean to offend, I must have been in a grumpy mood when I replied.

AMAZING update

Headers fitment is 100%, with room to spare!

We dumped the front cats. Car sounds LOUD. To you guys rocking LT's with no cats, I tip my hat.

Video is my headers, no cats, and everything else stock! Resonators, and mufflers, 100% stock. My installer and a local tuner both said that by the way these sound, we are making INSANE power. We will see. Enjoy the vid, and what should we call these headers???

AMG
Does anyone know the difference between RHD and LHD headers?
Would these be compatible with RHD vehicles? If not, what changes need to be made?

Got the cats back on. The car sounds like an S65, ridiculous. Super hollow and super euro. I ran a Panamera GTS today and they sounded very similar. The driver gave me a huge smile and thumbs up. I will post video clip tomorrow. By a million miles the set up is these headers, and EVERYTHING else stock. If you want more sound, I think you can do x pipe and if you live in Texas, go ahead and remove the cats. If you want that super hollow S65 sound, no need for anything else. I'm AMPED and pray we make power. So far, we have a KILLER product guys. I will keep you posted!

Damnit, I need to do some exhaust work...

I really hope these make power on the stock tune. If they do, they with a little extra fuel, ignition advance and VVT tuning, the gains will justify the product well in addition to the usual decat + tune that most E63 owners get on a budget.

Good luck and well done for taking the initiative to have a go at making something. If they don't even make amazing power, I still applaud your efforts in getting it organised and trialling it out

If they make decent power, I'd be interested as well as long as they're made with stainless steel

any reason you put the cats back on? Also, any stock sound clips for comparison?

Mild Steel, TIG weld. The cost of stainless is way too high. I'd have to charge $2K for these and there is not a market at that price. At that point, you shoudl just spend $3K and get some name brand stuff..

Yes! I put the cats back on because it way too loud. I had Kleemann shorties on my CLS and no primaries with x pipe. The CLS however had secondary cats. I even passed smog with just the secondaries. The E63 only has primary cats and with out them, this thing had just way too much bark. Also, because these stock M156 mufflers flow so well, I think you need cats for back pressure. On WOT, there was a sensation of the gasses escaping faster than the engine can produce it. Probably all mental but that's what I felt. When I put the cats back on, it all came together. The sound, the power, the piece of mind, etc..

I am confident that with a proper EC tune we will make good power. I will keep you guys posted!
