servicing without voiding warranty?
hey guys...Will be purchasing a c63 this week and I see mercedes has a schedule service A, B etc.
I noticed some people being quoted ridiculous prices for some services at MB which can be done for half the price at indy shops. My question is, do you have to have all scheduled service done at the dealership to keep your warranty in good standing? Any info on this would be appreciated.
Also if you know someone who's a mechanic and is willing to perform these services on the side, or even for those of you who perform your own service/maintenance, clearly there wouldn't be a legit "receipt".
So how would I go about this?

No, having the work done at an independent shop will not void the warranty. You pay dealership premiums to ensure the work is being done properly by certified technicians.
I wouldn't hesitate to have my indy shop do scheduled service.

It all depends on where you are located. In the US, they (you?) have the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act so you can service your car anywhere, and for as long as you can prove that it was serviced, you would be legally OK. In Canada and at least a few other European countries, there is no such statute so unless the car has been serviced by a Mercedes Authorized Service Center - which in Canada means a dealer (but not in Germany for example, where you can find autorized third-party indie shops) - legally they can void your warranty if they're looking at a very costly repair (like an engine replacement for example) and you can't prove that all the required service was done by a certified MB tech.
