PM pricing
I am fairly new here on MBW, but is it an unspoken rule for the venders that advertise in the forums that they cant just put their price right in the add.
I was looking around and they all kind of do it on here. I find this a little annoying, like its some sort of big secret. I mean if its a rule that they cant throw this info out there for everyone to see ok, but if not what's the deal.
Just curious.

This has been brought up numerous times. The vendors do it because they can and because their financial support keeps the forum going so the mods allow it.
Some do it to avoid getting undercut on pricing, but really it is about getting a good sales lead and a free bump for their sale post. Everyone who contacts asking the price is a lead that can be followed until they buy or stop responding. Someone who isn't willing to ask the price via PM probably wasn't going to buy anyway.

Agree, it's retarded. MBW is the only car forum in the world where this is the norm. Probably because all the vendors that do it source their knockoff parts from the same Chinese manufacturers, and they have an agreement not to undercut each other.
All of the 'legit' vendors post their prices clearly. Eurocharged, Weistec, MBH
I let my wallet do the talking. If they're not going to be upfront with their pricing, or create annoying ads that rub me the wrong way, then I'm just not going to buy from them. It's simple. Their loss.

Yea I can kind of understand this logic, but in the case where the adds are bumped over and over again with no price listed how do actually know if its a deal when they say limited time forum deal act now. If the price is never really known then is it really a deal.
As far as saying that if someone wouldn't PM they wouldn't buy anyways, maybe if some of these prices were advertised they actually might get more buyers. Case in point is someone thinking its more expensive than it really is.
From the responses that I am seeing then it is actually not against the rules for them to post pricing, just a choice by the venders on MBW. Totally backwards from most of the car forums I have experienced.

I think they miss out on a lot of impulse buying as well. A $400 part looks cool as hell as you are having a cocktail after work. However, the next morning when you finally get the price from the vendor, it looks a little more frivalous. My .02

Most of the time when I finally get the PM the price is the same that is listed on many sites in the open. NO deal for MBW members just a lot of wasted time.

I agree it is annoying as hell and I avoid buying from sellers who don't shown the price. My problem with it is it seems shady and I feel like they might tell me a price of $100 while they tell you a price of $80 for example. The whole thing makes me feel like I am being ripped off. If it is a good deal post the price and we will buy it, if you need me to pm you and waste my and your time then I don't need it. Time is money, please show a little respect for it MBW vendors. :-)

LOL "terrified" I have my location right there under my avatar. I am standing directly over the center of the earth.
This is an online forum so its not all serious business. If you really want to know where I am you can PM me. Then maybe I will tell you the same thing I tell the next person. give or take a 100 miles.
