Grey Wheels to Match 507 Stripe

I thought about doing this for a while, and finally did it. Match is very good, and looks way better in person.

Looks great, can't go wrong with gunmetal.

Is it painted or Plasti-dip?

Looks almost like a primer color. Looks good, if it were me I'd change the color of the mercedes emblems on the wheels to black or just something to go against the gray

The wheels are powdercoated. I was kinda going for the look of the 73 RS / 997 GT3RS, where the wheels and body graphic match. But I wavered for a long time (one set of tires) between doing that or just going with gloss black (to match the other 507 gloss black trim) and removing the stripe. In the end, I think I would have been happy either way.

BTW, I agree with PurpleHeart that the MB emblem in the center cap could potentially use some color (maybe gloss black or red?). Anyway, I am going to live with them for a few days and then decide. Thanks guys.

^ At first I was going to suggest red, however, that will look tacky and "cheap." Honestly, either go black or oem chrome to match the fender badges. Just trust me, change them and don't go red.

Honestly, I kinda like them the way they are. They blend nicely with the rest of the wheel and don't stick out like a sore thumb. I think if you change the star to red or black it will stand out too much. Chrome would be ok, but I don't know if I would change them from what you have going on here.

On a side note, I really like the color. Its not something you see everyday, which IMO makes it that much cooler. Nice job!

Can always change later, but now that the sun is going down they look right / make the car look a little nastier.

Beejaypunsalan -- yes, the I removed the rear bumper portion of the stripe kit (when I had shiny stock wheels) because the asymmetry of having it on the rear bumper and not the front bothered me. At the time, I figured that was just a baby-step to removing the whole stripe anyway, but now that I have color-matched the wheels I like the stripe...and wish I had not deleted from the rear bumper. Oh well....

Regardless, your car looks awesome as it is. Although if you cant buy em by piece (i suppose not), maybe you can make your own out of vinyl, really easy. Did it with my 211 way back and came out ok.

Thanks for the good/not so good comments on my old E.
Stripes were meant to match the burnt orange color of the calipers and the amber lights Just to give it a continious flow front to rear.

Now back to the main topic.
Sorry OP, didnt mean to hijack your thread.

No worries, and I appreciate the suggestion, because the OEM stripes are sold as a complete kit as far as I can tell. Thanks.

I agree, it is a bit hard to see due to the sun reflecting off the amazing red body color. But it does match the wheels very well.

Here is a better pic with flatter light...the rear shows better because the stripe is thicker in the back. Overall, I am psyched...makes me like driving the car as much as the first week.

Why do you not have the whole sticker run? Especially for a "true" 507.

There is no decal behind the rear wheels, at the bottom of the rear bumper. Just curious
