Hi,
I have had me w204 2009 for two months and I notice that when driving hard even if for a few seconds the cabin fills with a burning smell. The car is stock except for a tune. I am pretty sure it is not related to the air recirculation flap. What could be the cause of this? How can the smell enter the cabin? This is a Mercedes guys, it should be airtight. The car burns about 200 ml of oil every 1000 km. Any clues?
Ha ha. Of course the windows are closed. The cabin filter was recently changed. Is there any way to ascertain if the oder is exhaust related or engine related?
We get an exhaust or dust smell when the windows are open, and when vehicle is slow. Opening the trunk and I smell it.
I've asked the Dealer two or three times to check it and they find nothing. I'm suspecting exhaust from the ends of the pipes are being brought up into the little vents, somewhere, in the trunk designed to let air pressure out. Either that or it is coming up over the bumper and into the trunk right below the lid but seals look tight.
I recently painted my back bumper and I still have pictures before the paint job. Are these the vents that open while closing the trunk? Could it be that the vents are allowing exhaust fumes to enter the car? If so what's the solution could it be a fix of some sort or new vents? It was really smart of you guys to think of the vents.
