updates on the car;

After the injectors, the car was driving smooth and powerful. Later that day, i got CEL for ambient air temp sensor and 02. Car was driving fine however no issues. At one point, some guy in a mustang said he saw my car spit flames when i downshifted at the light and was freaking out, we stopped at a gas station and talked cars and i filled up gas. Later on, got home cleared the codes went to the gym. Was driving normal and slow, did 3-2-1 down shifts and that last 2-1 downshift was so aggressive the car started misfiring and smoking like crazy, smelled like pure gas. limped the car home, and towed it to the shop where it is right now, trying to see what really happened there, the 02 code never came back just multiple misfires on on both banks.

Also, while at the shop, we saw that the supercharger snout was leaking. Called up weistec yesterday Alex immediately sent out a seal kit at no cost, I just paid for overnight shipping and it was here this morning. great service.

Still haven't gotten a LSD on my car yet, I'm really looking into getting a take-off OEM performance pack LSD unless someone can really convince me that the wavetrac is worth it

reposted the last story by accident, editing here;

There was a hole in the secondary air injection hose, had that fixed. Still minor misfiring. Spark plugs were fouled, had those cleaned but no change to replaced. Still troubleshooting but now the tech is saying possible stretched headbolt or oil actuator pump or whatever it was called, its frustrating

Did a compression test, cylinder 2 has no compression. All others were in a 155-160 range. There was oil also leaking at the header gasket so oil leak from somewhere, either way gonna have to pull the valve cover see whats going on in there. There was no oil in the coolant. Indy thinks either bad hadbolt (broken or lifted?) or might have "blown a hole in the piston." Wont really know till we take it apart I guess. Thoughts?

Thats really not good news bud

report back and let us know first i have ever heard this happening

I would be blaming the tuner who tuned for the 550cc injectors

Ugh sorry. Oil at the header gasket means oil coming out from whichever # piston, which usually means you leaned out and broke a ring land or something. Hoping for the best. Just skimmed the thread and didn't see if you did the headbolts while you were in there doing the SC? I'd agree with mr747 unfortunately, as you mentioned earlier that they kept leaning it out on the dyno. Too much possibly, and should've had the 550's in earlier.

Thats what its starting to look like... I didnt do the head bolts with the supercharger (supercharger install doesn't require having the heads apart or else I would have) but while tackling whatever issue this might be, Im gonna get the bolts and SLS buckets done. I also have the option of getting the forged internals done but at 6k for just that, it depends on the overall budget.

For the head bolt job, I have decided to go with the weistec/arp head studs- $999
Weistec offers the gasket kit- $899
SLS Valve buckets- $999
Indy said he'd do labor at@ $2000

Thats already near $5000, assuming this cylinder 2 issue didnt do any other damage to the motor. I could also get updated headbolts for about $250, but with the supercharger i feel its better to go for the stronger arp which don't stretch when tightening and are also reusable. Add another $6000 for weistec forged internals if I decide to go that route. Also have the option for a local machine shop to port the heads @ 500 each/ $1000.

Regardless, I am going to do the $5k job for head bolts and valves, forged internals is still undecided as of now, same with machining the heads.

Will keep you guys updated on what we find when we pull the valve covers and heads.

Got my parts quotes in, just waiting for the labor quote! Hoping for no other major damage!

Also re read the posts; i forgot to clarify that the car was on the dyno but because it kept running lean, they couldn't do the tune. So eurocharged used the new dyno files, and adjusted them to accommodate the 550cc injectors, hasn't been on the dyno since. (This is what I was told by my shop, I was out of town for a wedding when all this happened). Also to clarify this specific issue happened immediately after downshifts (3-2, then 2-1 which was crazy, started misfiring, and smoking crazy.)

As of right now, Im really liking weistec's quote which is making me want to go forward with a top end build with: forged pistons and billet rods, SLS valve bucket set, weistec head study assembly, OEM gasket set, ARP camshaft cap bolt set, camshaft adjuster bolt set.

Hey everyone, some updates- Since the last time I posted, we pulled the heads from the troubled side and the culprit is (as me and a few others thought) a blown piston ring on cylinder 2. Since then, I was unhappy with how my car was being handled at the shop and I had it towed to my house (all apart in pieces, essentially) till I figure out the next steps to get my car completed. I am keeping the car, and a full build is in the future. So far the sleeves look good from the top but I want to go underneath the piston as well make sure its good all around.

What bothers me is that I'm still not 100% sure what exactly caused this to happen while downshifting. I always downshift like that. Since i Had the car and even with the supercharger. I did have a 93 specific tune and the mechanic said that when they checked the gas tank it had a lot of moisture in it? I am extremely certain that I did not over rev the motor.

Since I'm building the car to handle all the power, Im also considering moving on to stage 3. I have my stage 2 blower sitting in my closet for now. It does have a small leak at the snout, and weistec sent me a seal kit for it, just needs to be installed. I was wondering if anyone can chime in what a fair asking price would be for this or can PM me any offers as well.

I think the car probably got leaned out too much on the back-to-back-to-back dyno runs and that's when the damage was done. Sorry to hear, but your car will be better than ever once you get it back together.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't 100% decided how far I'm going yet but I will definitely look into that!

That does sound right. Something else on my mind was injectors. Can a 550cc handle the fuel demands of a stage 2 or stage 3? I was talking with my friend who has a terminator and he was shocked when I told him I had 550cc he was saying I should have 750cc. I need to do some research on that..

Did the injector on that hole stick open and hydrolock it? You said it smelled like gas, and 0 compression doesn't make sense.

Hey Guys, been a while since I posted regarding my car and the issues.. reason being is that not much has happened with my car. From july till mid november my car sat at that last shop and no progress was made. I got pissed and brought my car home because i was completely unhappy with the service and how I was treated.. decided the only way to get it done right was to do it myself.

So I franchised Eurocharged in Orlando, so I can offer the service I thought I should have gotten to everyone else in Central Florida. I hired 2 great perfectionist techs- One who is MB certified with 6 years at MB North Orlando, and another tech who has experience working at a speedshop as well as Infinity. Both are picky, perfectionists and pay great attention to detail- just the type of people you would want building your cars for performance. I opened officially on Feb 11, 2017.

At Eurocharged Orlando, we started taking the motor apart. Upon disassembly of the motor, we did find the piston ring had been damaged (see pics) quite badly. All of the chunks and rings were in the oil pump filter. We also saw that the crossover fuel line that connected both of the Weistec fuel rails had a tear and kink in it (I bought the supercharger used, and had noticed this issue and told the old shop to replace it with a new one, but they didnt.. and my techs are quite confident that this is the issue that caused the piston ring land to blow, from fuel starvation(see pics). The fuel inlet was on the other bank and for the fuel to cross over to the other side with a kink/blockage in fuel supply) Luckily the block was not damaged badly and we had it sent to a professional machine shop to have it honed and balanced with new Carillo CP Forged Rods and Pistons coated with PD-40, from Eurocharged (factory spec compression).

We just began the reassembly phase of the build. Had the Crank and cams polished. Using ARP head studs, New gaskets all around, new Oil pump, SLS black series valve bucks, and ARP cam bolts, just to name a few upgrades.

Thanks everyone! I will keep you all updated. The build wont go as quick as I want it to because I'm making it a point to do customer cars first and only work on the downtimes. However we have the timing cover on and the heads will go on later today..

Forgot to mention- I am also going for 650cc injectors, and once the motor is deemed healthy without any issues, I will be going for our Eurocharged E85 flex fuel kit to make some good power. Im still on the stock 7g tranny apart from the weistec tcu/vb upgrade. When my clutches start slipping I will go for the bulletproof kit and have that done in house.
