refinishing carbon fiber trim
The splitter on my C63 BS is has small rock chips that have not damaged the weave but the clear coat is coming up around some of the bigger ones. Any special considerations for re clear coating. Was going to remove it and wet sand it then bring it down to my body shop for clear coat. Anyone do this to theirs?

I'm glad you're asking because my CF rear lip is peeling a little. I'm thinking of just plasti dipping it black if it's too difficult to fix. Went to one body shop and he said they don't know about how clear coating the CF would work because they've never done it.

Actually the carbon fiber weave is intact-it the clear coat over it that is separating around a few of the bigger chips. Talked to my body guy yesterday-he agreed, wet sand it down to a solid base-couple coats of urethane clear and we should be good to go.

Let me know how that goes and I'll do the same. I like the CF look. I need to visit a few more shops to see if anyone is more comfortable with it.
