CBS suspension: KW - Öhlins
As some of you may know I picked up my basically brand new black series recently. I've read almost every thread with black series in the title and it seems everyone's CBS came with KW suspension so I assumed mine was the same. Then last night I was in my trunk (where the spare tire should be) looking at this weird machine under the floor flap with a pressure gauge and an on off switch. My last 63 didn't have this, does anyone know what this is for? Perhaps I need a pic to upload? unless it's a normal piece of equipment and I'm just ignorant lol
Then I saw a few pieces of paper and the tools for lowering my front coilovers. I took them out with the papers and two Öhlins stickers fell out. I thought that's odd. So I grab the flash light and look under my wheel well and sure enough my suspension is Öhlins. Amazing suspension by the way as those of you that have used them would know. I always wondered why it seemed like the only suspensions c63 owners were using was KW usually v3. And for a street car I would prefer them over KW any day. I had the KW clubsports on my last 63 which were awesome but not as good as Öhlins for the street in my opinion. For the track I'd rather the KW though.
So I guess all 50 of the black series that came to Japan were fitted with the Öhlins and not KW. Also does anyone even know which version of KW are on the CBS in America and the other countries that are confirmed having KW?
It's amazing how many differences I'm finding with the Japanese version. They only come in hardtop no pano roof, no side markers, 517hp not 510 and now different suspension. I'm gonna dig deeper and find out what else is different.

That thing with the pressure gauge might be your tire compressor.
I don't recall mine had this. I'll check.
As for the suspension yes mine are KW. And I believe they are clubsport.

Yea I took a closer look at the pressure gauge, you're right, it's a tire compressor.
Very nice suspension too, the KW clubsports.
Once I get my new wheels I'll post some pics. Hopefully by the first week of Nov.
