Replacing/upgrading front HK speakers
Hi all,
I've got option 810 Harman Kardon sound system and both the centre and front left speakers are failing (typical split-cone rattling sound).
I quite like the stock system (especially being a hatch, I get decent bass). What are my options for replacing my entire front stage (left, right and centre speakers + tweeters) WITHOUT changing anything else (amps, wiring, etc)?
From searching/research, the only threads I've found are from people upgrading everything including amps, etc which I do NOT want to do.
Thanks in advance,
Linh

- Am I limited to only replacing with the same HK speakers?
- Or, can I replace with aftermarket/higher quality speakers whilst still running off the existing wiring/etc?

Thanks in advance,

Im no audio expert but heres what I think.
The only way to change your speakers is to redo the entire system. Is has something to do with fiber optics.
Again I'm not positive on this. I only say it because when I tried to replace the speakers on my S55 I just ended up doing the stock speakers because I had to replace the whole system if I didn't.
I honestly dont think the HK speakers need to be upgraded though. They perform pretty well. If they are crackling because of bass then I would suggest getting a sub and then have the ability to turn down the bass on the car speakers and still have the bass from the sub to make up for it. Thats what I ended up doing in the S55 and it worked out really well.
