Tire Cupping

Got a loud noise coming from the front end of the car, had a look at the tiers and the front is cupping on both sides. Right now I have 17,000KM on the rubber, could it be old? Got the car in March of 2014 and only drive it during the summer, stored in winter.

Sounds like you have a problem with a worn suspension component that will need replacement. This is not generally due to old tires and your tires are not old anyway. GL with repairs. Might be covered by warranty.

Shoot a pic of the cupping, I agree it's usually something worn out or bent in the suspension

Thanks for the link, Mort. I guess I could've Googled it. Learn something everyday, as, I guess luckily, this is the first time I've heard of cupping.

+1 on suspension issues - assuming that it really is cupping (or "scalloping") where the tire edge essentially looks like a multi-faceted polygon. Is this what they look like?

typically the tire in the picture would indicate a suspension problem. However if it looks like that on your car it's most likely a tire application problem not suspension. A tire like that is not a performance tire and cant handle the load and weight rating of the car in the driving conditions you are putting the car through. Not to mention it's not intended for the higher negative camber specs our cars run. 17,000km? even on the fronts they should be pretty close to worn out by now anyways. Tires are the best modification on any car that can easily be over looked. cheaper is almost never better. putting garbage tires on any car ruins and negates the whole point of owning a performance car. Unless you're taking it out drifting
