About to purchase a '08 C300, how do I know if the headbolts have been replaced?
 

Hello guys,

I'm about to purchase an '08 C300 with 81k and I was doing some research and the head bolts appeared to be the main issue everyone was talking about. Does anyone know of a way I can see if they have been replaced or is getting a VMI report from the dealer the only way I'll know?


If there are any other issues I should look for, please let me know. The car appears to be in very good condition, it was a leased form 2008-2011 and 67k miles were put on it during that period and then the 2nd owner has put 14k on it since then.

That's his way of telling you that you are in the wrong forum, and perhaps asking if head bolts are an issue on the 300. Aussies are only issued 50 words at birth, so they use them sparingly.

Haha, fun facts. Didn't even know head bolts were an issue in the C300. Besides that, just look for your typical stuff, tires, how it runs, check out everything. Take it to a dealer and have them do an inspection on it and you should be good.

Sorry boys is there a C300 forum or is everything AMG related? I looked but unless I'm not finding it, it appears everything is for AMG's.

OP, to answer your question. Yidney and Ins1gnia are right, you shouldnt worry about the headbolt issue with the C300. just look for the usual flaws and flubbernub posted the link to the W204 section. goodluck and hope to read from you around here mate! :y
