I want an AMG, again...

What's going on folks!

Haven't been on here in a while but definitely looking to get back into an AMG at some point.

I've been looking at some 2009's recently and was interested to hear about the headbolt failure on these cars. What's the cost associated with a proper repair? A couple grand?

What else should I be looking for in terms of issues? My C32 back in the day was bullet proof so am quite shocked to see the W204 platform having some of these issues. Kinda reminds me of a BMW

For reference, this is what I'd be coming from if I decided to get back into an AMG.

Thanks for the insight in advance!

The 211 E55 is always a good option if you want something you can easily make fast.

None for now
I'm looking for a 2010/2011 which does have the headbolt issue. The head bolt issue is real but it is rare on these cars, but when it happens, it screws you unless you have warranty.

Weistec makes an upgraded design that's $1K but not sure on the labor. I believe you can even just buy the updated head bolts for cheaper and save some money there. Good luck with the search!

Not really looking for fast at this point. Just want something newish, small, and sporty. The C63 or E9X M3's fit the bill.

Thanks. I'd love to DIY, as I've always done but the headbolt DIY looks quite involved.

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo (heavily modified)
I would say keep the E46 M until you can get the 2012+ C63 orrrr call a shop and ask them just labor cost to do the headbolts. if the price is right get the updated MB bolts and just have them do it. After that you should have a fantastic car.

I suppose it depends on your budget and needs, if you want a track car honestly the m3 might fit your needs better. If you want a really fun driving experience and prefer na engines then the c63 is a fit.
