Engine noise, Heeeeelp!!!

Hi all. My car was in the garage for two weeks, I did not drive on it. Today I heard a noise from the engine of my C63, when I started it in the morning. :tear: When the engine is warmed up the sound disappeared. :nix: I went to my dealer MB but they have not heard anything bad. This was no sound. :wall:
My car 2014 and has only 7000 kilometers mileage. Only 7000!!!! What's that sound? What could be broken?

When I came home this sound no longer appear. The sound only in a cold engine.
Help please!!!! :(

You can fix that issue by not starting the engine.

Mine car makes this sound also on cold starts I believe it's the lifters. Its like they pressurized once warm

My 2008 makes the exact same sound after sitting at the airport for 2 weeks.

Week or less the sound is not present.

I had the same noise, except it happened after a few hours, not weeks. Replaced the lifters under warranty.

have you changed the oil and filter recently?

SROC276 11-07-2015 03:22 AM

I had the same sound momentarily and then drove the car. If you just had an oil change, possible oil did not circulate all the way through. After some driving, sound disappeared. It was a loud ticking sound like that. Only happened after an oil change. Possibly oil drained down a lot from valves so just let it run for a while.

I replaced the oil 4000 kilometers back. Can replace oil again ??? Or this is marriage warranty? What should I do? :nix:

After driving it a few miles is the sound still there or has it disappeared? Thinking oil needs to circulate. If it continues then you will need to go and have it checked at dealership. May have a bad lifter.

INS1GNIA, What is this a bullshlt?! Write on the case! :wtf:

Emkovich 11-07-2015 04:33 PM

I want find the cause of the sound. This is due to the fact that the car is in the garage for a long time?

Most likely, yes, it is from sitting and the oil drains out of the hydraulic lifters. They are noisy when the car is stared until they fill with oil again and resume normal operation. If it continues get it checked out by the dealer.

It can be made worse by using a oil that is thinner when cold and the level of oil in the sump may cause it to happen as well but I am not sure why as that makes little sense. It does not hurt to check that your oil level is correct from time to time and keep it close to the upper level.

Not really anything to be overly concerned about at this point.

Yes, this occurs with nearly all cars that sit long enough for the lifters to bleed down

With a simple search Emkovich you would have found at least 5 similar threads in the past month covering your same issue...sry if I would rather post a funny meme than take your sound issue seriously.

No warning lights, nothing comes up on your screen saying to worry and the noise goes away after a while....nothing to worry about SO...

Alex-r-1 11-09-2015 05:11 PM

Judging from the comments this sound may occur due to the fact that the car is a long time without movement? :nix: Need to start the engine more frequently???

Emkovich 11-10-2015 05:39 PM

Guys, may be add to the oil Liqui-Moly CeraTec?
