it channels it for sure but will create turbulence around it
but removing the trumpet bit the air still has to flow through the tube but just removes another obstruction so I can't see it running rough could be wrong
it's the same Principle as putting row boxes to remove the restriction and aid in easy free flow
anyone have a link to the Fb post be interested to see how they got on
