Comparing Apples to Oranges..
Hey guys this is my first post and I have a few questions about the C63. To make a long story short I was about to buy a 2015 CLA for about $40,000 last week. I changed my mind when I saw a new neighbor around the block from me with a 2009 AMG C63 for sale for $31,000.
This car is beautiful and in near perfect condition. It has a little less than 40,000 miles on it. Everything is stock except for the Kleemann ECU. He said the car puts out over 530+HP...
Here's the problem, should I go with the CLA which is new has a warranty and way better on gas. But too small for my family and I when we want to cruise on the weekends or...
The AMG which is almost $12,000 cheaper, more fun to drive but older and I may run into mechanical problems in the near future?
Neither car will be my daily driver most likely just weekends...thanks for the help

If you are comparing with a non-AMG CLA, then I'd go C63 100%. The only major issue to watch for, of course, is the head bolts (check the stickies) which won't cost you close to the $12k difference to fix, if it hasn't already been. Especially since you say this will be a weekend car, I'd def go with the C. Driving a CLA on the weekday, let alone weekends, will be boring as hell. My 2 cents.

Yes the CLA is not a AMG...I agree it will be boring to drive as well. Thanks for the heads up on the head bolts, I'll have to do more research..

If you pick it up for $31K, you can purchase a bumper to bumper warranty for 3 years from Carchex (better than the dealership warranty by far) for only $5K. Total cost would be $36K worry free about fixes while if you pay $42K for a brand new car you'll have limited warranty for 3 or 4 years. At the end you drive what makes you feel better

Man you guys got me all giddy over here. I didn't drive it yet but he did start it and its a beast. Didn't know about Carchex as well, I'll check it out. Now I just have to convince the wife to go used instead of new

like you said...apples and oranges. not being biased since this is the C63 thread but its no contest. take all the advises given here and get yourself a treat! besides, if its gonna be a weekend car, you wont have to worry about petrol. no offense to anybody who owns a CLA but if its not a CLA45, its a pos.

non amg cla ??? even the cla amg is like a watered down amg imo.
buy a real amg like the w204 c63. its solid. spend $700 and get a ec tune you are over 500hp.
I will sell you mine for 25000 usd, 2010 white on blk pp cf trim.
and don't worry about head bolts. I heard tons of story but real life I never seen one that failed . and everyone in here has a c63 (Toronto)

Wife will be on board once she goes for a ride
I test drove a cla45 amg, what a piece of garbage imo. Sounds terrible and has absolutely no room in the back. I am waiting for my 2014 c63 sedan to arrive from FL now

I wouldn't say that they sound terrible, but I totally agree with the backseat comment lol, it must be for children or midgets.

You do NOT want a CLA.
Even if you don't get the C63, which if you'll test-drive it already you'll own a car, do not purchase a CLA. There is a story behind it, so it's the whole long story/short thing. And this was the AMG model. I'm not gonna get started(it's not that dramatic, just a shtty car).
I wouldn't worry about the used aspect, provided it checks, most of these cars are solid. I'm just gonna stir the pot a hair, but $31K? Really? It's an '09. I think that's on the high side. For not much more you can get a newer, face-lifted version(2010+). Forget the idea of the CLA, and go find a better C63 for your money(Not that I wouldn't buy the one your eyeing, but take a look at what's out there).

You must be joking. They tried to make a 4 banger sound "mean"...it literally farts in between shifts. When we went for a ride, my wife was like "wtf was that noise" between shifts. She thought something was broken LOL.

On you tube a lot of people either loved or hated the CLA 45. Regardless I'm not getting one. It did look like a fun car to drive though..
