Guys,
I started this post - looking for a used oil/air separator. I found a used one and installed it a couple weeks ago. Since then I drive the car in every day traffic - mostly like a grandma following other brake lights.
Today I checked and there was a mix of water and oil in there. Maybe a shot glass worth. It was very thin - more water than oil. I got concerned and checked the oil on my dipstick - looks normal.
Does anybody else here have experience with collecting more water condensate than oil?
Fwiw - since I have the catch can I did not have another one of these episodes, where the car smokes when starting it up. It sometimes (rarely) used to do that in the past. Very noticeable in my case, as I am catless.

Moisture is a combustion byproduct and there's always going to be some in the oil. When your engine starts to warm up, the moisture in the sump will start to evaporate and you're collecting it in the catch can, so it's perfectly normal.

When I emptied mine, after putting it in storage, it had a thin film of oil on the bottom and some nearly clear water sitting on top. This was after 3600 km of street driving.

Guys, appreciate the feedback. I thought water was normal, but it is still reassuring to hear others see the same.
