Fixing a tire rub with KW v3 ????
So odd question. I dared Vorsteiner to be wrong, they weren't. You cannot fit a 275 on their V-FF wheel without rubbing. They said 1 customer did, but it took substantial work. So, I tried. I failed (in totally stock form).
With the offset of a V-FF, the outside of the 9.5" wheel is dead on where a 10.5" forgestar is. So, how does everyone fit a 275 on a Forgestar and not rub ?
Can I put a KW v3 on, at factory height in rear, nice and firm and not rub ? Or, fender roll the little bitty lip and just have the paint guy fix the damage when it happens ?
Thanks

The wider wheel causes the tire to stretch a little bit. That tiny bit of stretch is what helps everyone else clear.
Before I started rolling fenders I'd just downsize to a 265 tire. If you're rubbing now at stock height you'll be rubbing on the v3 as well.

Thanks. I was hoping the v3 maybe would keep the compression at bay at the stiffer settings.
Guess some brand new 275s will be for sale in classifieds ...

Again, this is just what I would do, but downsizing to a 265 will end up costing you only a couple hundred once you offload the 275's and pick up some cash from those.
If money isn't much of a worry you could also try to opt for wider wheels with a more appropriate offset. But now we're starting to talk even more $$ than the v3 route.

A suspension with a stiffer spring rate will only be an incremental improvement and not a solution. It would just take a slightly harder bump, or a bit more load in the car to still make you rub. You could do that and then drive slow in order to avoid harsh bumps - but then this would be totally counterproductive for enjoying the car.
Slimmer tire or different wheel, or fender modification - those are your choices.

thanks! I'm just going to bite the bullet. I got the 245/275 set for the Renn wheels. So, I'll put them on those wheels and sell them as a set. Ill put Vorsteiner's recommended 235/265 on and survive.
Look for Renn wheels with brand new Conti's at an AMAZING deal !!!
