C63 P31 vs ATS-V

So a buddy of mine is picking up a new ATS-V I had no idea about the specs on those things. Seems it may be a real competitor for our good old W204 AMGs. He swears it will beat my car in every aspect. Looking at the numbers I realize straight line performance will be pretty even but handling, that thing pulls 1.04G on skid. So handling will be a joke. Im a better driver than him so I know Ill have more of a chance at the track in the summer, but that magnetic suspension is no joke.

I guess Ill win on sound and displacement haha. Im looking forward to trying his out when he picks it up. You guys run one of those yet?

The CTS-V is a monster. I am talking about the ATS-V. Seems like Cadillacs version of our C63 but with a 3.6L V6 Twin turbo setup. I like that it is available in a manual.

Just curious how it would do against our cars in roll races. I know because it comes with magnetic suspension its a beast in the curves (1.04G on skidpad)

New CTS-V is not that one. New one is over 600HP thats an old 2011. and I am looking for ATS-V comparisons

Chris Harris did one on /Drive but it was against the new c63s I believe
But it would give you an idea roughly (though the w205 has more power)

Never mind it was a gts

i want to like the new Cadillacs, but their interiors look like as if they were designed by a geriatric. I also don't appreciate the parts "borrowing" they do across all their models. If I'm paying that much for a car, I don't want the same pieces that I can find in their lowest models.

Sorry, guys, I'm looking 5 years down the road, not showroom new.

Different perspective. Love the CTS-V. Don't know how much I'd like the CTS surrounding the "V" five years down range.

Not the first time someone has asked that question. Try some of these.

I'm a curious guy, and happened to take a look at two ATS-V's yesterday. A manual and an auto. Note: I have not yet driven either, as I had my 7 year old with me.

The exterior of the car is, IMHO, really good looking. It is mean. It is edgy. It has attitude. I wanted to like the new M3's, but they just don't have that attitude (though the M2 is looking promising ... those hips!).

The track pack / splitter and tail look really great on the sedan. The front of the car is awesome. The engine bay is so meh, I don't even know where to begin. So don't look at it, close the very nice vented hood. The rear looks better in person than I thought online and in print.

Ok, the interior. The Recaro's are nice and the position of the stick with the wheel and seat is very, very good. A little adjustment and it just felt perfect. Ahhhh three pedals. I miss that other pedal. The rear seat is tight. Yeah, most of you don't car, but I have two kids (in car seats) and that space matters. There's also this weird shelf that comes out in front of the rear seats lower cushion. It is very tight back there for actual feet. It's weird.

The suede like wrap on the steering wheel is a $300 option and feels like about a $19.95 wrap from AutoZone. Maybe this car was just early and they didn't have they're upholstery groove on yet, but it felt loose on the wheel and thin. Did I mention how nice the stick + wheel + seat + pedals felt? Seriously, that alone could make me want one.

The dash is very meh. I love the gauges in my 09. I love the AMG there. They are very clear and don't look cheap (unlike much of the rest of my interior), but the ATS-V doesn't look good at all. It looks like a rental fleet car that someone made a mistake and dropped a 200mph speedo in. My seven year old noticed the 200 immediately and was very impressed.

The brakes are huge and look great under their wheels with the meaty PSS's on them. That's a very, very nice stock set up. And living in a place with crap roads, I like seeing it happen on 18's.

I know there is crazy trickery under the body and hood that add to that price, but I have a hard time swallowing an almost $80K little GM (that's not a Z06). I also looked at a Macan this weekend and the interior felt much, much more like an $80K car.

I have left the worst for last. I know everyone all over the web is all about that CUE system and the entire center console area, but trust me, it's far worse than you could imagine. It's just so shiny and finger-printy, and cheap looking. I am amazed at just how very bad it looks. That said, a matte wrap might be all it takes to get this thing at least livable (that and some exhaust work).

Planning on heading back out (without the short car shopping assistants) and driving one this week.

That's funny, considering there is extensive "parts borrowing" between all the AMGs. Your W204 uses quite a bit of hand me down parts from its bigger brothers, including its motor. And the C-class is in fact one of the "lowest models"

I have never been near a Caddy so I have no idea if they are good or not, but let's be fair. The C63 isn't some exotic handed down from the clouds.

W205 will stretch a W204 all day. The ATS-V just puts the power down better. Look at the MPH at the end of the quarter....the C63s is 5MPH faster....which tells you ATS-V traction is the only advantage

You can't put down over 500 lb/ft on 255's - end of story.

Tires and a Tune will get you low 11's all day. You can't do that with a W204.

i said looks. power is irrelevant when a car looks like the new c63.

You are funny. Not everyone buys cars because they look cool.

Mercs and AMGs in general have never been great lookers. However, the new 2017 C63 coupe is gorgeous.

ATS-V will walk you in a straight line.
No competition.

Look at this video.
Both cars tuned, ATS-V with DP... M3 is DCT, ATS is Manual.

if you're tuned and get beaten by a stock ATS-V go trade your car in for a 4cyl ...I've pulled blown M3's / R32 GTRs / a 445whp catback/tuned 5.0 mustang less then 2 weeks ago too and they all way more power then a stock ATS-V

Idk how dudes get pulled so hard in a c63 lol ... you guys must start the race off in 4th or something

stock for stock sure the ATS-V will prob keep up, but if you have a tune..no not a chance

Idk why you guys are worrying about a ATS-V anyways ...Lol...Just wait until an E63 or a S63 that's what you have to watch out for

You aren't even talking about cars in the same class...

ATS-V - S4 - C63 - M3
CTS-V - S6 - E63 - M5

And, yes folks, the ATS-V is going to be faster in a straight line than the w204. Mod for mod. In fact, I'd even say that your w204 with headers and a tune is going to have a struggle fest with an ATS-V with just a tune, maybe not even.

You can post up videos all day long of watch this guy race this guy blah blah. Fact is, we don't know driver experiences conditions etc. So, when that is left to those who actually do legitimate testing of these vehicles driven by professionals the ats-v stands apart from the w204.

Car and driver has the ats-v going 6mph faster @122mph in the quarter mile than the new c63s. And we all agree (or at least know in our stomachs) the new c63s is more powerful than what we have in our w204s. Even the 507 comes in at 117mph as tested in the quarter.

I see myself switching over at some point. I'll definitely end up back in the turbo game, hopefully sooner than later. It just depends which I fall in love with at the time and the ats-v/cts-v are serious contenders especially in white with the cf packages. I am, however, waiting for the c63s coupe to drop before I make any moves.

it's a twin turbo V6 ...not sure how you can say "mod for mod" ...you're comparing NA to forced induction...if you want to do mod for mod, slap a SC on a c63 then compare it to a TT car. You can't compare TT to NA ..TT is already cheating by forcing more air down the beasts throat. It's like racing a Stage 2 S/C against a fully bolt on ...of course the SC is going to pull ..you're manipulating the engine by forcing more air/gas down its throat.

I'm pretty bias against turbo's because i owned turbo cars before the c63 and they were nothing but problems, and the tq curve blows

the ATS-V is rated at 3.9 0-60 while the c63 is 3.6-3.8

Just because it ran faster, doesn't mean much, turbo cars will put down the same #'s in any conditions, even if it's 100C out that day, while NA cars suffer quite big losses in just a few environment changes and enter limp mode if pushed a bit to hard

And as the video above, the stock C63 kept up with / pulled the 2011 CTS-V ..that still makes 550hp / 550tq ..and it's a 2011 so not that "old"

Not to sure why people in this thread think a 460 hp / 445 tq car is going to "completely annihilate" any c63 lol especially when theres 10+ videos of c63's pulling CTS-V's and those make more power then a ATS-V

Also i'm not sure how 460 crank HP = 470+ whp which is what a header c63 will easily put to the ground, the ATS-V will put down 400whp at best in it's stock form, not that far off from what most c63's baselines are

the ATS-V is a nice looking car and is actually pretty comparable to our c63s but, in no way shape or form are you going to get walked by a mile against one, probably nose to nose or maybe 1 car if anything and it all depends if it's wet or not thats where the c63 will lose, if it's in the wet.

MTV10 - Lol, Have you raced an M3? I've raced a few, 2 of them that where stage 2 active auto werk supercharged too, not 2015's and destroyed them both, so it's kind of a given a TT V6 will spank a M3, they aren't that fast lol

No. Just no. You're wrong. On, like, everything. I don't even know where to start, but I won't hurt your feelings this time or you'll surely post all my personal info again and threaten to contact my work colleagues.

And if you "destroyed" a supercharged M3 as you say, the other driver must have been asleep.
