Being the passenger is a little more tense the first time... knowing you are getting ready to brake is one thing, anticipating when someone else will is another... especially the first time hot lap with an instructor. The skill gap closes a bit later... by pro level, you're not "scared" but focusing on how they get a tenth of a second faster than you in every damn turn (usually, they are wider, slower going in and faster out...). I think most of the instructors also left foot brake which I'm just starting to play with.
