2017 Mini Cooper S Clubman ALL4 - British Racing Green
I officially traded my C63 today
It is with great sadness that I traded in my 09 C63 for a 2017 Mini Cooper S All4 Clubman in British Racing Green. It's a fun zippy car.. seems much faster than it really is.. but fun. I will miss my 63.. a lot
The long and short of it..
113k miles of pure joy.. but plenty of repair jobs..
The latest (which I did not do hence the trade) was both the Intake Manifold and Valve Cover gaskets, and the transmission was slipping horribly.. the former I could handle, the later would be terribly expensive.

Nice mini, I saw one of these on the road a few days ago and it got me thinking .
Been really torn myself on so consolidating the c63 and my truck down to one vehicle with some cargo room.
It's amazing how quick some of these small low power cars can feel

Sorry to see you let the C63 go. I had a feeling you might have been a little tired of trying to keep up with it and doing all or most of the repair work yourself.
Enjoy the new Mini and hopefully it will be trouble free for a long while. All the best.

A very long time ago, I did something similar I traded an E39 M5 with 118,000 miles on the clock for a MINI JCW GP.
In hindsight, while I enjoyed the MINI, I missed the E39 like my right arm almost immediately that I left it behind at the dealers. So much so that I even tried to track it down and buy it back about a year later. Turned out the new owner totalled it about 6 months after I traded it in
Enjoy the MINI - but I suspect you'll be back in an AMG soon enough

The C63 was purchased in 2010 (09 model) as a CPO with 14k miles on the clock. It was my daily driver, at one point doing around 120 miles a day (I am a consultant, so depending on where my client was I drove).
Yes, I will miss my 63 tremendously. And while there will be one in the future, it will be many years in the future. I bought mine when my wife worked full time and we had no kid. Now she is self employed working part time, and we have a 4 year old. The funds are just not there.
The mini we bought was the all wheel drive version in manual, which is why we had to order it (dealer stock seemed to consist of FWD manuals, and AWD automatics).
It is the same engine as the BMW 220 and 228 (except down 40 HP.. easily fixed electronically), 2l Turbo engine. It is zippy, obviously not ***** to the wall of the AMG.
Mods wise, with a little money, most of the Dinan mods for the BMW N20 engine will work on my mini, which means in theory if my wife lets me, I could push the mini to around 350 hp with minimal effort.
The choice of the mini was my wifes, her requirement, largish vehicle (I know, mini and large should not be in the same sentence, but we are both 6f, and can sit comfortably behind the drivers seat when the other is driving), manual, all wheel drive. It's not completely over for me, we still have her Infiniti JX35 (2013) that I will now be leaving at the airport when I go to work. I will be trading that in.. possibly for a Focus RS if I can snag one without a huge dealer markup.. I thought about the CLA45 or GLA45... but I'm not sure I want to deal with the cost overheads of an AMG till I send my kid to college...
Who knows.. I'll still be around here.. I do have a few items to sell (mostly tools and my roof racks, yakima Whispbar since the new rails on the mini are not supported by that model range).. That and well I like to troll the forums every now and then

I didn't know the new Minis have the N20, that's good. I have a lot of experience with the N54/N55 platform. But I assume it's not the same AWD system that BMW uses?
Enjoy, and I would forget about a Focus RS... I tried to get one a few months ago, they wanted $4k over MSRP back then. Just not worth it.

The interior is miles better.. but then again, the interior of the W205 is also miles ahead of the w204. It comes with the nature of progression of the models.
I'll take pictures later when I get home. Only issue I have.. the idrive knob is the reverse of the command for navigating through the screens.. it is counter intuitive, clockwise for down, anti clockwise for up is how it should be, and I cannot find a way to change that. It is actually driving my wife insane lol.

Well, you gave the 63 a good run. I had an '03 Cooper I bought new and kept for 4 years. It will always be the best value car I'll ever own. It was $19k out the door and I sold it 4 years later for $15k. Nothing else will ever touch that for holding value. No other car in the class had the features available on a Mini. Enjoy it!
