Caliper Painting

Caliper Painting
I've taken a look at most of the threads on here, and ACG seemed to be the best solution. Unfortunately, due to an internal problem, they no longer have the cores available, at least for now. Does anyone know of any other shop that provides caliper painting with core? I'd prefer not to have my car out of commission for a week+.. Thanks for any suggestions, I've seen the G2 kits, but want to get it professionally done. My local shop wanted $1k for the 4 corners!

While painting brake caliper is fine with specialized paint, paint just doesn't have the durability of powdercoating. Best place I know for powdercoating brake calipers is Mike at the Powdercoater.com:

He's specializes in brake calipers.

As others have mentioned, you can definitely do it yourself. G2 is a great option because you can do a custom color for like $100 or so -- basically any automotive production color.
However, I wanted straight red, so went with VHT Brake Caliper Spray Paint for both the color coat and clear.
Take a look at my journal, I've got pics of the process there.

I used two cans of color VHT and one can of Clear VHT. Took all the wheels off, sanded with 400 grit(make sure to get in all the crevices), use a degreaser to clean them up, tape off the rotor, pads, all that good stuff, mist the first 2 coats, then follow with 3-4 medium coats. Wait about 30 min, stick the sticker on, then 3-4 coats of clear on each one. Wait about an hour after the last coat then put the wheels back on. I did this all in one night, left my car on stands and put the wheels back on in the morning. Did it about 5 months ago, still look as good as the day I painted them.
