What is the difference between this and using a Bluetooth dongle and cellphone app? It looks like you need a laptop and a wired connection, but they do not offer enhanced capabilities for Mercedes. So, I am wondering whether this would show any more info than Torque or DashCommand.

With this cable you can do full logging and see what your car is doing live via the lap top
when you purchase the cable you get the software also to do the logging
the app is good to check codes and stuff this just takes it to the next level
you don't need the extra software all you need to do is purchase the software and scan XL professional version and off you go
this would be good for the track also
I need this because my car is having issues with the throttle bodies and weistec want to know the car is doing under load
Trying to look at a phone is near impossible

I have been using ScanXL Professional for a while & it has been somewhat helpful.
Pros: Easy to configure & use, reliable, good single-key capturing.
Cons: Not AMG-friendly (no enhanced features), limited PIDs (like no knock detection values), poor support.
I am happy to share my config files etc ... PM me if you want them. (Brad: I'll bring mine on Sunday if it helps).

I've had that for a couple years, it works good but it is slow to respond, there is a slight delay. Shows lots of values, throttle position, timing, fuel trims, temps, etc etc

I use HPTuners MPVI scanner and a separate wideband sensor.

I tune imports and use Open Source software I connect my LM-2 http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm2.php with other peoples cars and the LC-1 http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/db.php with my personal car. (not my MB) It isn't the best wideband I have used, but it connects to my software so it's easy to read the logs with matched AF to all the other parameters. I wish the MB world was more shareware with software. I've been searching for some good logging software. I just wish I was able to actually tune it myself.

Love my Innovate DLG-1 Dual AFR Gauge, although one of the sensors has gone out of calibration and is giving me funky readings on one bank. Stalking this thread for ideas on how to log AFR's....

the stock primary oxygen sensors are widebands so unless you're trying to verify that one is reading properly there's really no need for an external wideband.
