IPE Exhaust, Power Loss?

Installed IPE Headers w/ Decat & Catback Exhaust the other day.

Car seems...down on power oddly. It just feels weird. Granted, I'm still on the "Tune-Only" Eurocharged V5 tune. I'm just waiting for Jerry to send me an updated file back, but...

Should the car feel off? I mean, I can understand maybe a loss in back pressure because of no cats or something, but it just seems weird/off for some reason.

Any thoughts?

Your car should not be off it should be running like a champ

There is another issue here
Check the tune and make sure your throttles are opening 100%

A lot have people have been having issues with throttle bodies lately

I have been having huge issues

That's what I'm figuring too.

I'll wait for the updated file from EC, and then re-evaluate and see if there are any issues with it. The car feels like there's a loss in TQ, and just doesn't pull as hard.

I'm wondering if it's because the exhaust is so free flowing with no cats, that it being on an "OEM" Tune from EC, it doesn't like it or adapt properly.

That could be a problem wait for eurocharged and go from there

If not happy log it and make sure those throttles are opening

Good luck let us know how you go

Spoke to my friend who had headers on the Non "header specific" tune from EC too, and he said he didn't experience a power loss.

I have my shop checking, we just took off the Intake Manifold to give it a full clean inside and out and everything, so, maybe something wans't put back properly, or there's a leak somewhere. Fingers crossed, will keep it posted!

Make sure the throttle loom under the intake manifold is not compromised

This will cause issues hopefully it's a easy fix

How long has it been since the IPE was fitted?

You do lose a bit of low end torque seeing you have gone from a 4-1 short tube headers to a 4-2-1 mid length headers. So it will feel a bit weak on low gears. But pulls strong on higher end.

It does take a while for the V5 tune to adapt.
Mine took a few drives.

If not, the headers tune from eurocharged should sort it.

Checked it. Everything is fine there, no leaks, no nothing.

Was fitted yesterday actually, haha. I've drive it maybe...50KM? (30 Miles), lol.

Maybe it might take a few drives, it felt better today too.

I'm waiting for the Headers tune from EC, so hopefully.

Maybe it's just a bit of placebo, who knows.

Out of curiosity, why are you running the colder plugs? I thought those were for cars with a blower.

I was recommended that colder plugs are also good for higher HP applications.

With headers and everything, they're running 75 -100 more than OEM.

They're just SLS Plugs.

Mine was ok after 100-150 miles drive.
The low end torque difference was noticeable in the early stages.
Soon get used to it and the difference in the higher end pull is definitely noticeable.

Hopefully. I'm waiting for EC to send me the Headers File back so I can flash it.

When you got the "Headers" file, did your low end TQ come back? Or is that gone for good with headers usually?

Curious as to why nobody's ever mentioned this before.

We'll see. Going to drive the car until Monday while I wait for EC to send me the new file. Will flash the new file, and see how it is.

I also changed to Weistec Plugs, which are 1-step closer too, not sure if those are causing it to not run well either.

If the tune doesn't fix the problems, then we'll pull out the plugs to check for gapping.

Mine didn't need the 'headers' file.

Ran it on the same dyno pre & post headers, same V5 Eurocharged map was installed before headers.

There's no torque loss when u go Lth,it will take some time to adapt these cars r very sensitive, needs crisp air to perform I know mine felt sluggish when it was humid out but deff felt a difference going Lth

Hmm. From what I'm reading, I should actually "pick-up" more power going from 4-1 to 4-2-1, lol. But, we'll see. I'll drive it a bit tonight and tomorrow to see if the tune improves and adapts a bit better.

How long did you need for yours to adapt?

Interesting. I'll go for a cruise tonight to see if I can make the car adapt faster, and see how it is, lol.

Time to waste a tank of gas! Haha.

I had HFCs put back into the IPE Exhaust. Car felt much better after.

After that, I did a full battery reset, and the car feels great. This was Jerry @ EC's recommendation.

I have a dyno day + dyno tune with EC at the end of the month, so will have some numbers for everybody!
