CEL P2196 and now P2237 after new o2 sensor
so a few weeks ago my car showed a p2196 code for bank 1 sensor 1... after trying to troubleshoot it myself, decided to purchase a new o2 sensor... after having it replaced, the p2196 code has not come back but now it's a new code. p2237 -Oxygen Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Open - Bank 1 Sensor 1... so far i have not been able to figure out what this is... planning to take it to a shop and have the new o2 sensor tested... i'm really hoping it's not a wiring issue somewhere... a little nervous if i need to replace a big ticket item...
just posting this up to see if anyone has had some experience with these codes...
thank you

that by the description sounds like you have a broken wire or loose connection on the positive wire.
the shop may have to test the wiring from connector to ECU for a break or resistance.

if that wire is the culprit, then what would be the fix? can that single wire be replaced? or is it a whole part like a harness?

not exactly sure...you'd have to look at the wiring diagram and test at each joint connector (if the connection is not a direct line of contact) to identify a break. there are wiring break locator tools as well but i haven't used these so i couldn't speak to them. but honestly those might be more work than manually probing.
mercedes wiring pins and connectors are rather fragile. a pin to my airmatic computer for w211 broke in half on its own. discovered it 6 months later. went to shop twice and they couldn't figure what the real issue was besides stating the sensor passes, as well as wiring passing, but our computer states there is an issue on this line. something like that.

i had a shop check and they were able to find something that showed an issue with the ground connection... it was from the connection to the O2 sensor and not an issue with the new O2 sensor... they were able to fix it and so far after 3 days i don't have that cel anymore...
