ESS Supercharger for W204
Hey guys, I don't know if you heard about it, but ESS (famous manufacturer of supercharger for BMW's) is now making a kit for the C63 w204 (M156) engine. They already had some material for the SLS.

What are you thoughts on that? A friend here can import it all. It'll be costing around 70-80% of the Weistec (Stg3 supercharger only). Is it reliable on the Merc's?
Cheers.

For a couple thousand bucks I'm going Weistec. Proven track record, bulletproof, and even better from a resale standpoint. Besides, they sponsor this forum

Agree with that. Or the Magnuson kit even before this one. You have to wonder why this was ESS supercharger was rumored about for so long and nothing ever materialized, now it has appeared with no fanfare or results from anyone of note whatsoever.

2.9L? the Magnuson is a TVS2300...to my knowledge is the largest TVS in production. there goes lie number 1. Their branded TVS supercharger uses the same rib design as the Magnuson unit.

It seems to be the ess kit is internally a whipple 2.9. Which would be just like weistec. Just different packaging. The magnuson kit is designed by them with eaton tvs rotor group.

Well, that's what I was looking to hear (or in that case, to read). A friend here is bugging me out to instal this ESS sc on my bs, but I haven't heard any info on the brand building mercedes supercharged engines. We all heard and read a lot about Weistec SC cars, and RENNtech. Anyways is good to have more options. I'm planing on SC'ing my BS maybe 2nd half of 2017.. Thanks for the replies.

ESS is a very reputable company. I had their blower on the old 95 M3 (made ~400whp with long tubes headers and cams) and the car ran like a champ. The quality and tune was outstanding. But, that was on a BMW ...
Having said that, I'd go with someone like Weistec that has been around a while and is tried/tested with countless success stories of people that track their cars with that kit. Just my .02.

Doing little bump on this. Instead of creating a new post. ESS has moved shop to Arizona. Knowing this it somewhat sparked interest so immediately I gave them a call. We had a lovely chat about this and his other handful of AMGs.
I'm gonna keep it it simple and factful here.
It IS internally a weistec stage 3 2.9L. Weistec claims its a 3L but ESS owner says it's not true.
This kit also comes with cooling vs the weistec and is readily available for purchase at $9500.
Their shop car 2009 c63 non pp that dynod 370whp stock now makes claimed 575whp STOCK manifolds. Solely what comes with the kit is installed.
I do plan to visit their shop and see the beast in person possibly a little ride along as well. The owner is willing to also work with me on pricing and do an in house install to help spread the word about the kit and for me to write reviews on it.
I had concerns of the transmission and he mentioned their tune addresses this concern through the tuning it self. I didn't quite understand it but he said their tune vs other supercharge tunes actually sends torque info to the ecu which allows smooth torque to be applied safely to the transmission. Now I'm not sure how many miles he has on his shop kit but he claims not to have slipped once at 6psi. I'll gather more info when I visit the shop.

Makes sense seeing the torque curve advertised on other websites
There is a massive dip in torque compared to weistec kit
If you dont wanna build tranny why dont you just use NOS instead
Check out ********* for dyno sheets

yes you will gain more power with blower but it will come with other issues
If you are saying you get high temps in AZ your problem will be even worse

The high temps is mainly the concern for safety of my family. Can't keep a bottle in the heat. So it becomes a hassle plus the hassle of traveling to my nearest refill station.
