Nav update 2012 C63 Coupe
I am a little pissed. I bought my 2012 C63 AMG and picked it up at the factory in Mar 2012. I was able to use the navigation while living in Germany for a year but then moved to Korea. The navigation did not work in Korea and I sucked it up using a phone. Now that I have brought her to the states, I ordered the 2016 COMMAND NAV thumb drive for $324.00. I had to order it from the dealer since the car is MY12 according to HERE. I open the package and it has a thumbdrive with the updates. It asks for a license key. I called HERE and they said that the dealer has to call to get the key. after an hour at the dealer they stated that the car had to be "hooked up" to their computer to get the key. I asked how much that would be and they said around $200.00 more. I said that this does not coincide with the instructions and that HERE said all the dealer has to do is call and they will give a key. I am at my wits end and seems like no one knows how the system needs to be updated. Does anyone know how to get a key without going to a dealer and if the dealer in fact has to get the key do they have to plug the car in to get the authorization code?

OK this is what happened today. I spent an hour on the phone with MBUSA. Everyone I talked to had no idea how the update is supposed to work or the price. The dealer that I bought it from $324.00 said that was just for the the maps and I would have to pay an additional $200.00. After I told them what a different dealer told me that the usb is $55.00 and the rest is for the cost going on DeTOC for the license key and that there would not be any other charges, he still argued that it was not the right way. So I bought another usb from the other dealer for $330.00 (taxes were higher) and had the license key and within 10 minutes. The car is updated now and I am going to take the other one I bought back to the stealer that sold it to me. If anyone has any questions let me know..
