I've been driving my new C63S coupe now for a week after trading my 14 E63S and yes they are vastly different cars. Still getting used to the C and only have a few hundred miles on it so far but first impressions so far are pretty good and I'm happy with the trade. Biggest difference I notice is the overall quality of the materials in the interior of the E is much better. The C seems a bit cheap after owning two E class AMG's but is a lot more fun to drive. It feels quicker and more responsive but doesn't have the hard continuous pull up top like the E did. Looks wise, there's no comparison. The coupe is just a very aggressive looking car in comparison. When driving the E I rarely had anyone challenge me I suppose as it doesn't look much different than any other E class Benz. In the C coupe, every M3, M4, and Audi RS wants to have a go. Looking forward to getting some miles on the C so I can play.
omg yes, every damn car wants to run you when your in the C63. My worst eperience: a ISF cuts me off, starts to rev his engine and wags his finger. I put on my blinker to turn left onto the next street, he then does the same. He takes the corner and goes sideways while wagging his finger out the window. we get to the next light and he pulls into the other lane so we line up, I roll down my window and tell him to calm down. He starts in saying "Oh you're fast aren't you, got that big Mercedes. I can take you, lets go" mind you there are 4 schools (2 elementary, 1 middle, 1 private) all on this street. I tell him no because of the schools, he laughs and burns out and takes off down the road.
My experience in the E is that the majority of people have no idea what it is. Sometimes if I take off I can see people behind try and catch up and then spend our time at the next light trying to figure out what it is.
Then you have others that know what it is and just give you the nod.
Far less "boy racer" encounters in this than my previous C that's for sure. And I like that. However, I bought it going into winter so when Spring rolls around and the toys come out I'm sure it'll be somewhat of a different story.
I still love this car and I've barely even driven it.
I'm planning the same change as OP myself. Need a bit more room, and the AWD of the E63S will be a help here in New England. There's a used car dealer near me w/ a '14 in the same Mars Red (red, anyway) as my C63 that I've got my eye on.
