'14 sedan transmission issue?

When I go from reverse to drive, there is a noticeable 'lag' before it actually engages the forward gear. It goes in on the 22nd to get looked at, just curious if anyone else has noticed this or if its normal.
I have tried the TCU reset procedure too.

Its a 14 with 16k miles.

More info - did this just start? Did you buy the car new? Have you done any trans service on the car - I would think not since first service is at 40k.

The MCT has a wet sump clutch for starting out. So it needs to build pressure before it engages, that might be the lag you are feeling?

My 2012 sedan does the same thing, went to dealership for some other work and noted for them to look at this. They came back with "normal operation".

I bought the car a little over a month ago with 14.5k miles. It's now just under 17k and it doesn't do it all the time, but it is very random. Doesn't make a difference if the car is cold or warm. Some times it's so bad once you go from reverse to drive and give it gas, there is a delay and the engine revs, the. The trans catches and will spin the rear tires. It's almost like it's slipping then catching.

It's under warranty so I'm not too concerned as I know if it is a problem it will be fixed. Just didn't know if it was considered 'normal'.

Thats normal operation since your transmission doesn't have a torque convertor..

+1

Like I said earlier, trans takes a sec to engage given the start clutch. The reason you think it sometimes does it and sometimes doesn't completely boils down to you. When you shift from park/reverse/drive sometimes you're a little quicker on the throttle, sometimes you're a little slower thus the difference.

Remember, this is an AMG, it's not made of glass, don't have to worry too much about the little differences between this car and others.

Thanks, just a new transmission I am not used to I guess.

Check out the horrible thud you get if you driving in C mode (where normal take off is in 2nd) and you find yourself stopped on a slight uphill incline. The transmission drops back to 1st just as you giving it some throttle to get the car moving. You find yourself checking in the rearview mirror to see what part of the transmission/driveline you might have left on the road behind.
Or while stationary in D with your foot on the brake try spinning the dial from C to S/S+ and back again. Feel the clunk as it bangs into 1st gear. The whole car shakes, you check the tacho to make sure it has not stalled and your passengers start saying "geez what was that" (except of course if your passenger is an MB tech out on a test drive).
All of this is considered "normal".

Mine does this too, had the car 4 weeks, never did it the first 3 weeks, did the TCU reset procedure and now it has done it twice in the last week, and it was like 3 or 4 seconds this last time, car revs like you put it in neutral instead of drive and hit the gas, makes me look like I can't drive stick!

Wondering if it has something with maybe I was still moving a little when I went from R to D and it doesn't engage until it comes to a complete stop - going to test the theory.

So while I said a little lag is expected with the MCT, 3 to 4 seconds seems a little long....

Or while coasting at about 8 mph then press lightly on the gas to accelerate again and it downshifts and you accidentally take off like a bat out of hell.
