I looked into this and it looks like it is possibly, it has a part number, you have to prove ownership of the vehicle to get it ordered - was about 80 bucks.

Also if you go on the private lounge and search a bit. I think there is a thread where you can write down your info and they will take care of you.

How did it fade? I thought it was photoetched into the metal plate? That shouldn't fade unless its printed...if it's printed I gotta stop wiping mine down so much lol

mine is quite faded also that is why I looked into it, was like that when I bought it not sure if someone see heavy degreaser or something but it is a light bronze instead of black printing

How do you take it off? Is it glued on? Plus I noticed how the new ones just say Germany and not Afffalterbach...

It just has some light duty epoxy holding it down

I put matte 3m paint protection film over mine.

Hopefully it'll stay protected and unfaded.

You can go into your local dealer with VIN and they can order another one.

A little heat and a plastic pry tool will do the trick - best to take it off after a drive as it is hot and easier. New one comes with adhesive backing on it, just clean good and re-apply. You will need Vin and builder name on it when you order - if your parts department can't figure it out, have them email amg-parts@daimler.com to ask how to order it.

We checked back with the AMG parts department. Your MB dealership should be able to order specific engine builder plaques. Please advice your parts manager to contact our team at amg-parts@daimler.com to order a replacement plaque.

Please let us know if you keep running into issues.

Best regards from Affalterbach,
Your AMG Private Lounge Team

Rob

Well then, that seems pretty easy.

I wonder how much it is though.

So you glued the plaque to a freshly painted surface without going through the heat cycles required for engine paint to cure/adhere completely? Better get another one of those plaques cause yours won’t stay there long. Terrible idea. That plaque should be stuck directly to metal, not glued on top of spray paint.

The paint did fully cure per instructions prior to installation of plaque. It's also been several weeks now and the plaque is perfectly in place.

Did you order a new one from your dealer and did they have any issues knowing how to do it?
