Exhaust Modification Opinions
Hello all,
Done some research and scoping around at videos but want some clarity/opinions from others.
I have removed the 2nd cats and replaced them with an H-pipe.
I am looking to remove the resonator but do not know whether to replace it with an x-pipe or straight pipes. Heard mixed reviews about loss of low end power, no back pressure therefore i lose torque as well. To my knowledge these factory exhaust systems are restrictive and the motor needs to breathe.
Anyone with advice, comments would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you,

Do you have video of your car ? I'm keen on doing the same setup as yours

DO NOT remove the resonators! I did both secondary cat deletes (straight) + resonator delete and it was TOO loud like way f**king loud to the point where the car doesn't sound nice anymore because it's just loud. This time around i'm doing straight pipe (secondary cat delete) and keeping the resonator.
Video does no justice how loud it was!

My exhaust is 4-1 LTH ---> X pipe ----> stock mufflers
No cats and no resonator.

My understanding is that you only need the exhaust to cross once, currently you have 2 H pipes, one in the cat delete and one in your resonator, so if you removed the resonator (which I also think is a mistake as it just makes the car loud and raspy), you would want to straight pipe it already having the H. It also makes a difference where the H is, closer to the front or back in sound.

I don't think it makes a huge difference but here is what I have heard.
H-Pipe will give more of the mercedes rumble, X-Pipe will make the sound a little more high pitched (not a huge amount).
Placement performance wise is best closer to engine, but further back mellows the sound a bit. Overall the difference in performance is not much, but based on the way the exhaust pulses are bouncing around, there is technically a sweet spot for each car where the X will optimize the flow, but the undercarriage and the exhaust routing will dictate location a lot of the time.
Mercedes went with an H in the resonator near the middle to get the sound we have.

Least expensive ex mod if you want more ex vol... Just lower your rear seats. I didn't believe it until I tried it and the rev match downshifts are nice. Plus no extra noise for the rest of the world if that matters.
