Haven't taken photos with my nice camera since getting the new 19" Niche Essen M147 wheels, blacking out the emblems, and some other random CF trim pieces.
One more question if I may. When you painted your emblems, what did you use for adhesive when you re-applied? I mean, they just seem too small and fiddly for 3M VHB tape for example.
The C63 and rear star I bought already painted matte black. The star just snaps in place, and the C63 had 3M tape on the back. The AMG emblem I plastidipped and didn't have to remove it.
Curious about the window trim, now that you mention it. Did you leave that cos of the door handles? Theres basically nothing you can do about the chrome on them, nothing that will last anyways. So I have been thinking you need to leave a little bling elsewhere, just so its not odd man out. That your thought there as well?
Im curious cos I have never modded a white car before, and yet its my 3rd C63. That means I want to do this once and be done lol, rather than the do and the re-do, so I am spending a LOT of time just looking at it and thinking. I suspect you've done the same.....
Yeah, I thought traditional "stormtrooper" meant all chrome blacked out. I like yours though, so screw the criticism that it has to all be blacked out. (I also like the CCs painted the body color. I need to do that next.) I just got my windows tinted this weekend and had them wrap the chrome window trim (and left the door handle tops chrome). I am semi-regretting wrapping the chrome window trim. IMO the wrapped trim "cheapened" the look of the car. Now I am debating taking off the wrap and crossing my fingers it doesn't leave damage on the trim. Hmm...

I don't think anyone was criticizing his choice, I certainly wasn't. You're right in that people do tend to just say "wrap all that chrome", and like Vipertoad Ive been thinking that may not be the way to go. Im just wondering if his reasoning for that was similar to mine.

Yeah, I don't think anyone in this thread was, but that critique has generally popped on these forums whenever someone posts "stormtrooper" and they still have some chrome. I think I remember one member going as far as saying the person couldn't call his car a stormtrooper because there was chrome showing in the rims I'm seriously removing my black wrap on the chrome trim this week but am now afraid it may leave the chrome trim damaged. Looking all over online and not seeing too much on removing the 3M 1080 wrap from chrome trim pieces (vs. applying it to such pieces).
You want to balance them out, which you have done nicely. I recall the tips as well, because if you get them powder coated black you probably want all black trim; people overlook that all the time.
