And I've seen quite a bit about what rear tires one can "upgrade" to, but I don't see much mention about the front tires? Would there be any benefit to moving from 235/40/18 to something like 265/35/18?

As always you have to work the comparator by including offset of the wheel.
1.2 inches is what 29 mm? It has to go somewhere.
Check 1010tire's site. They have the comparator and will show if there will be any interference.

I'm a believer in maintaining the proper handling balance in the car, so if I move up in treadwidth in the rear, I do so in the front as well. 255F/275R is easy, more than that will depend on tire selection. There are a frigging million threads on this so just do some searching.

Indeed. Now that (I think) I've decided to stick with my stock wheels, I can focus better on all of the threads about tires / wheels. Before that my head was spinning.

Just curious cos I had looked at the RS, and wondered about 42 offset (which they also have) and I am lowered on H&R sports. Now Im not sure those 50 in the rear would work with a drop, and 275s.

You have any thoughts on that? And what kind of tires are those, cos shoulder profile matters, obviously.

Contis DWs.... Not much room if lowered so 42 offset would be better for ya

Anybody ever try Nitto555's ? I had a friend with a 650hp procharged Mustang that had a set and they had awesome traction.

Yes drag radials are great and hook very well on high horsepower cars. I had 500 rwhp mustang, stick with no issues but that was with 315 tire
