Need Some Help Please, 2013 Facelift Gearbox Surround With Gearbox Mode Switch
Please can anyone tell me if the gear surround part with the gearbox mode switch on the facelift model just plugs in and works without coding it to the car?

I am sending spares away to get done in carbon but I just want to check I wont have any problems when swapping over like its coded to work on another car and will need coding for mine? Or will somehow make my gear changes different etc
Mine is a 2013 and the one the spare came out of was a 2013 too.
I can confirm that the transmission mode select knob works without coding. It's 100% plug-and-play.
Great thanks least I can stop worrying now. I'll post pictures when all the carbon is done. If there is enough intrest when I post the pictures I may ask my carbon guy if he would do more sets then ill ask the moderators if I can start a thread for them.
He has done all the carbon on my previous car, works with F1 and other race teams, He has also done pieces for artists after they have sculptured pieces and done lots of show cars.
At the moment he is going to do all the door trims and centre consol pieces including the armrest and he is way cheaper than all the other companies offering these to people and all his work is OEM quality
I have no idea, but I too got my surround wrapped in carbon. I just sent them the whole piece as is.
My carbon guy is doing them but he has not done c63 parts before so we thought to ask if anyone knows before he has a go. We would rather know than attempt and maybe break something.
I feel like the best way to do this would be to pretty much transplant the entire fundamental electrical system of a c63 into the body of the project car. You could probably get away with just the basics, ECU/TCU, fuel pump control module, Central gateway, and anything required by the drive authorization system - ignition/key, steering lock, etc. I'm not an expert on it, but I feel like you're going to have a hell of a time getting the ECU to communicate with any other system that isn't originally Mercedes

Hi Phil, have you added the carbon gearknob cover since the above photos were done?
also, please could you provide details of who did your carbon work. I can’t seem to find an off the shelf carbon solution for the facelift C63 for around the gearknob and comfort/sport/sport+/RS button at all.
