Alright, engine geeks....geek out on this.
So maybe this isnt the right forum....so sue me.
But this guy put rotary VALVES in a BMW motor.
Absolutely no point to it, but he is exploring what motors can do and thats pretty cool just in and of itself. Scroll down for some explanation from the builder himself, and there are some pretty good videos. This is way over my head lol but I thought some others may enjoy, and lets face it.....things are pretty slow around here.

I have a lot of respect for guys that think "I wonder what would happen if......" and then proceed to find out. Lots can wonder, few will try and even fewer can do.
Hell, I respect when you can drift one past me that makes me say "WTF was that?". That alone speaks to its complexity/originality of concept right there.

Too bad the Jalopnik video ended just as someone shouted "fire!" I'd love to see the sequel.
If you're wondering about the 'how', read the article closely. If you're wondering about the 'why', the wiki info is pretty good...more power, higher revs, less size & weight, etc.

How on earth he even got the engine to run with such an ambitious project is beyond me. Seems pointless, but as a project, it's very impressive.
