C63 AMG to Lexus ISF?
Hello and Happy New Year to one and all,
Being an ex-ISF owner I occasionally lurk on the Club Lexus web site and recently saw a post where the person sold his 2010 C63 to purchase an ISF. I believe it was a '13 and is very clean but this is the first instance I've read where someone has done this. Of course the mild bagging on the C63 commenced which is to be expected but my question is: Has anyone here ever given thought to doing this or has done this?

No. I don't consider them in the same league. The power delivery just isn't there. The gearbox is nice but the IS-F just lacks insanity. Nice car, just too pedestrian for me.

IS F is a nice car, but that is moving in the wrong direction in my book. He did had a Pre FL car though, so any 13 C63 or Lexus would be a step up with improved tech etc. Looking at used prices, they are just as much as a C63 to buy used same year.
Who knows the reason, but most people stay German once they enjoy a good german car and maybe move between German brands, maybe he got bit by the headbolts and just wanted something perceived to be more reliable (I say perceived because I have had a few Lexus cars/trucks and the least reliable vehicle I have owned in the last 15 years was actually a Lexus and this is after many BMW's Audi's and a C63.).

I have raced a ISF with my C63 and I walked it. C63 is quicker, and has much more character.

I've owned a 13 IS-F and a new RC-F. Both are completely different cars from a C63. Very well mannered until you really stomp on it, and even then the power delivery and visceral sounds are not as raw and angry. Hard to ever get into trouble in either Lexus, things are always under control.
Both Lexus cars are fast but I realized I wanted something a bit faster with more anger and aggression. My 2015 C63 507 feels like it's always on the edge of getting me in trouble, which is why I love this car.

I test drove the IS F before deciding on a C63 and like everyone has said the IS is not in the same class as the Merc. The luxury factor of the interior is just not there. The power delivery is nice but it's in the upper RPM range...and none of the savagery of the C63. The IS F is basicly a toyota with a V-8. Plain and simple...rather boring.

Anyways for me, it hands down the C63

Not as fast, doesn't handle as well, and the interior is not near as nice. I looked at it as well and test drove it and found it sloppy and uninspiring.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I agree on all of the points made and between the '09 CPO and new '12 ISFs I've owned that is four years of living with this machine. Though the ISF was less expensive than the 13'C63 I purchased there are multiple reasons why that is so and it's not just performance. For instance, I recently bought a 55" LG OLED TV and, with the rear seats folded down, it fit perfectly (in its shipping box of course). Definitely can't do that with the ISF.

I wish I had the wagon! I could haul lots of things or go on more road trips. I also hauled a 55" TV in mine. I was so proud.

I read that thread at clublexus as well. He was complaining about MPG and the rear tire wear. He also did not like how the C63 didn't get him noticed because it looks like a regular c class.
All valid points, but I doubt he'd get more attention with the ISF.

It's really hard to see those details in my mirrors though. Lol. And the Pre-LCI cars were back breakingly stiff. On VA roads the car just hurt.

Apples to oranges but the ex was SO proud to tell me she and hubby bought a RC200. I complimented her choice of color and said I had driven one and it was cool.
A week later she stopped by to pick up our son and she saw the C63 in the garage (I had acquired it just before she got the RC and neglected to tell her).
She was f'ing LIVID!

Hehehe nice. Unfortunately that's becoming all too common with our cars too as they depreciate in value (see King of New York thread)

I went back to the Club Lexus post yesterday just to read the latest replies and several members say they've raced and beat the C63 by quite a margin. Now every test I have seen between the C63, M3 (E9x) and the ISF shows the C63 as the fastest in a drag race or from 0-60 mph. I know of at least one member here who raced his friend with a full bolt on ISF and beat it as well as someone who responded to this thread having a go with one and walking it too. I guess stranger things have happened but from by experience with the ISF and the C63, I find it hard to believe.

I hear that a lot. IDK why. Maybe envy? Maybe they really believe it. It's a mercedes, I never really associated speed with mercedes till you got up into the SLS (before I knew much of anything about the Merc lineup)
