Beaten black (and a little blue)...bringing a C63 back from an uncertain fate

Well have to hire a few drivers for you to bring all the cars so we can oggle and drool

Hows everything on the electrical side looking? Missing any sensors in the bumper or anything? Run / start /codes scanned yet?
Cheers,
-Patel

Indeed. I took a couple of pics at the bodyshop today. It looks like the rear bumper had too much damage to fix in situ, and there was a small dent on the quarter panel. Everything had to come off.
Happily, the door has been installed, as has the fender. It looks amazing.
I have, however, run into a problem. the bumper cover I bought was missing its plastic reinforcement brackets. I need to order these, but the dealership tells me that they are an integral part of the cover and cannot be ordered separately.
I'm fairly certain the part numbers are 2048854865 and 2048854765. Would anyone with a pre-FL happen to know, or better yet, be able to check, that this number appears on the brackets inside their cover?

I'm completely stuck: I need the reinforcement brackets from a pre-FL car. I've tried every bracket made for the w204 chassis that is available on its own, none work. I need the ones that were sold as part of the cover. Anyone have?

Tried that. All the wrecked C63s have front-end damage. Surprise, surprise.
I bit the bullet and ordered another used one from ebay is really bad cosmetic shape. It should arrive tomorrow, at which point I'll take off the brackets and put them on mine. Hopefully I can have the car by next week.

I was getting ready to pick it up, but when it came time to unpack the wheels I'd bought, it turned out that all the tires were mismatched, two were bald, one was plugged and all were stupidly old (2002 or 2004!) Not only that, but the wheels have a horrible plastidip job applied which is peeling all over. My bad for not scrutinising all of them, but I would have expected better from a longstanding forum member. Lesson learned.
Now I need to break out the patience and find new tires. What's another week?

Here's the FS thread.

As you can see in his posts, he says the tread is "80%...very little wear" and that the wheels "are in good condition for winters". I'll post some pictures shortly of what I actually ended up with. Again, my fault for not thoroughly scrutinising these before paying, but I had every reason to believe they would be as advertised from such an established member who invited me to pick them up at their own home.

Here are a few pics of what they looked like. You can see the age and tread, along with the state of the wheels. Edit: Really sorry for the crap pics.
At the end of the day, I ended up with:
One Hankook Icebear front with a plug from 2010 and 70% tread
One Pilot alpin front from 2002 and 40% tread
One Blizzak rear from 2004 with 20% tread
One Pilot alpin rear from 2002 with 10% tread.
All wheels are quite curbed, and this horrible half-peeled plastidip. I'd strongly suggest not dealing with CALLMIRO in the future.

This is first hand proof membership age means jack sh¡t.
Sorry man, but for 900 bucks, small claims will cost you more than it's worth.
callmiro needs to make this right.

I do appreciate everyone's support. It's a lousy first foray into MBWorld trading, but I think it's a case of the proverbial bad apple. I intend to make the most of it; I'm painstakingly peeling the plastidip off the wheels and getting some used tires this week to last me the rest of the winter. I think I'll refinish the wheels over the summer.

But the "80% tread" thing was clearly untrue, although he never said the tires were made in this decade. Anyway, that just sucks sorry dude. Gotta ask all the right questions prior to purchase...

Lesson learned.
In other news, I got a new wheel lock key (original is likely still with PO) and some floor mats. Who knew a simple key could cost $60? Car is being detailed as we speak. I should have it plated tomorrow. It's about bloody time.

And I never said that high post count matters in for sale items. Clever twisting there pal. It's just that low post count usually is a pretty good determinant of suspect legitimacy in my experience....
