M235i for C63. Mistake?
I've had my 2015 M235i for almost a year, and have not one negative thing to say about the vehicle. It's a hoot.
However, a fully loaded CPO 2013 C63 P31 has recently become available locally at a very reasonable price. I've lusted after the motor in that car for many years, and am extremely tempted to trade-in
Has anyone here perhaps gone from a 2-series to a W204 AMGC that could comment on differences in the ownership experience, fun factor, etc.? Three vehicles ago I called a '13 C300 my daily, and I fondly remember vault-like build quality, as well as tight, responsive, steering. I know the nimbleness of the M235i will be missing, but I rarely find myself utilizing its benefits.
Thanks!

I have a 2008 M3, which I think would generally have the same "BMW" characteristics as the M235i and I've been daily driving a 2013 C63 P31 for the last 2 months or so. Honestly, the C63 is a the better daily driver in my opinion and I've been loving it more than the M3 for just driving around anywhere. The power/torque from the M156 engine is insane and the sound from the exhaust in stock form is better than the M3. C63 suspension does seem to be a little more harsh than my M3 but in general it's not an issue unless I am on really crappy roads.
M3 is great for when you can find open backroads with no traffic and rev the engine up consistently above 6K RPM and just rip around. Like you said though, it's tough to utilize that type of engine characteristic and the "nimbleness" on a regular basis. The C63 feels more special at lower speeds and just normal driving. I don't think you will regret the change at all. The interior is basically almost exactly the same as a the 2013 C300 I believe outside of the steering wheel and seats probably? So you know what you are getting there.
Just adding the C63 is just as fun to rip around in backroads as well. I've used it in the S+ mode mostly and I haven't tested out the manual mode yet. It's almost too fast it can get up to crazy speeds in a blink of an eye.

Awesome, thank you DP8. Exactly the type of insight I was hoping for!
From what I understand, the E90/E92 has a very comparable driving experience to the M235 - save for that wonderful V8. So that's quite an endorsement for the C63. I'll have to make the trek up to take it for a spin.

I have a 335i E93 also and I honestly enjoy the C63 more, but the BMW is a convertible so is fun in it's own way, but the motor in the C63 is just a thing of perfection, go drive it and report back!

I went from a 135iM that was full bolt on/tune to the C63 and both cars were awesome. The only negative I had with my C63 was double ESL/EIS failure (and headbolt concern but I knew that going in).

I went from a 335 with a Juicebox to the C63.
Never looked back, not once, not for a second.
Oh except to maybe laugh at how many sets of injectors that old car has probably gone through now.

Yeah the N54 was not the deal with injectors.. or plugs... I think I slightly preferred the interior of the BMW, but the C63 was so much fun to drive around town because of the low end. I was always surprised that I fit in the 1 at 6'7"/260.
That said, if you're happy with the BMW, and into modding, I'd probably keep it and just tune the hell out of it and save some money if the C63 is going to cost you at all.

The C63 w p31 and LSD might be the perfect everything car. I mean it has useable torque, makes incredible sounds, has a good transmission, and is just a fun car to hoon around in but still has the superior build quality from being completely built in Germany. Only reason I am even selling mine is because I like cars I can modify and this car is pretty perfect in stock from with EC tune. That's literally all you need + some aesthetics if you so please.
Make sure the car has LSD. It is worth it.
You wont think about that M235i anymore. For me, all it took was one test drive and I needed a C63 in my life. I got lucky enough to find one with all options I wanted.

C63 AMG - LSD
Car was wicked fast, but I was constantly replacing injectors, coil packs & spark plugs.
C63 is a way better car, it doesn't feel as fast but I promise you it is much faster. The power delivery is just butter smooth so you don't get that feeling of the turbo hit
