Need help - vibrating/grinding

Need some technical help.

I've just started noticing a strong vibration emanating from the front of my C63 and carrying through the center of the car. It happens when I'm turning at low speed, but also while not moving. I thought I needed to change my differential fluid, but that shouldn't happen while stationary.

My MB tech will check, but he's thinking maybe the motor mounts are worn and now something is making contact.

The best analogy I can make is it feels like you're driving on a bare rim with no tire. You feel a vibration and you hear what sounds like scraping.

Ideas?

If it's happening while your not moving, has to be something along the lines of engine or trans mounts. Can't really think of anything else that would cause a vibration when stopped.

Sounds like motor mounts. Do you feel the motor rock when you start it? Is it worst when stopped while in drive? Does it get better while moving or if you shift into neutral while stopped? Look in the engine bay near the headers and see if you can see any purple/red fluid coming out of the motor mounts. That's my guess.

Low on fluid or other power steering issue?

I personally haven't checked, but my tech will.

I don't feel anything when I start. And it never happens at speed, only at very low speed and only while turning. My tech is also thinking mounts.

Verdict is it's my v-band clamp vibrating next to the transmission.

Bingo ^^

It's a way to join pipes with a clamp so that it's not permanently welded. Allows you to swap out sections.

Did you bottom out on something? My v-band (using mikes power pipe) has lots of room on both sides.
