This may have been covered in the ROW thread a while back but when my car was in for service a mechanic (who owns a heavily modded E63) said I could just remove the charcoal filters from the US air boxes and achieve virtually the same gains.
Is this true and would I need new MAF sensors?

P.S.--Regardless, I'm still inclined to drop the coin and get the ROW boxes.
