Seatbelt alarm, for no apparent reason

I'm in a '12 coupe. Seatbelt alarm on the dash has been going off three of the last four times I drove it. My belt is buckled and the passenger seat is empty, so there is no logical reason for an alarm. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some sort of sensor in the buckle receptacle? Is there any way to tell which seat belt is triggering it?

Not sure how to test for it but this happened to a friend's Nissan. He needed a new belt buckle receptacle.

My seat belt alert problem disappeared for nine months but is back again this week. It chimes almost nonstop in city traffic (it resets and starts over every time you slow to a stop) and is driving me crazy. I eventually discovered that it would stop if you pushed down on the buckle on the drivers side, so maximus' guess was right - it's gotta be the receptacle.
Looks like left (driver's) side p/n is 2118602169
Front right is 2118602469
I just found this from Kyle at FCP Euro, who continues to surprise me with great stuff for us:
Mercedes Seat Belt Buckle Troubleshoot and Replacement (CLK/ C-Class - Genuine) FCP Euro
It's for a one-generation-older chassis but provides great hints about how to replace the seat belt receptacle.
