M156 Engine Problems
Hey everyone I am new to the AMG world. Just got my first one this week it's a 2009 C63 AMG. I bought it knowing the issues thanks to everyone on these forums!!! Awesome write ups everyone. I know this is a very repetitive topic on forums but what I am trying to accomplish is to get all the problems listed all on one forum because I find my self constantly searching forums and going through numerous pages trying to find all the problems.
If I can please have someone very knowledgeable about these engines; list all the factory problems and the fix to correct them I will really appreciate it.

Thanks Chris just want to make sure I got everything. I ordered the Weistec head stud and maintanence package to start I'll have to find a good place to order the other parts. Vehicle only has 48000kms so not worried but don't want to take apart the engine more than once. Thanks for your time.
BLKROKT- Obviously I did my search just trying to get everything in one place for my self and others because on every thread there's people like you and Mort filling it up with useless spam.

no, you didn't because when I search "headbolts" tons of lists of all the headbolt parts come up from people that have done them. search "intake manifold" and my intake mani/PCV valve DIY comes up. it's really not that hard.

So by your suggestion, know the issues first then just do a search on part or area of the car and you will find all the problem areas. Excellent help. If you know the problem areas on the engine the a list of the problem, when it seems to turn up and the parts list would be a helpful summary for someone looking at fixing or buying these engines. Kinda the purpose of dedicated forums.

Seriously, I'm a troll coming form the guy who offered no help to a guy asking a question on a forum for exactly that type of question. If you take the time to repl make it useful. I joined the forum because I was researching problems I could have if I buy a CL63 with the same engine. Why are enough so cool!

Engine mounts
ESP module
Ignition coils
Oh and rear tires dont last long period.
These are typically what I've been finding! However with your low milage some of the issues wont arise for many more miles, and some may never become a issue... from what I've seen and heard??? Also the bottom end is bullet proof from what I've heard... I look at it as everything is a ticking time bomb just depends when the timer goes off.. with mine its basically second nature to open the hood and check things regularly!!

And yes, I registered just to say that. For what it’s worth, I found this thread because it’s the first non-video result (the quoted video here being the first video result) when Googling “M156 reliability.” I’m currently doing research between an M156- equipped W204 C63 or an S65-equipped E90 M3. I am very well versed in the problems with the S65 engine but having only worked at a Mercedes dealership from 2007-2008 the long-term reliability issues were fairly unknown. I find these kinds of threads useful.
And yes, I know this is a ghost thread...
