Had a flashback with this.
Back hell knows when now my dad decided to get my mom a new car. He was addicted to buying new cars at the end of the model year.
She would have been in her 50's so I was blown away when he came home with a maroon 2 dr sedan, B pillars and all - an Oldsmobile 442 which of course had the 455 cu. in engine which as I recall dumped out 365 hp.
He had no idea what the 442 stood for and he figured it was engine size. He had a stealthy car with the 455 as far as he was concerned. Broke my heart to tell him 4 barrels 4 speed manual and twin exhaust. Of course the car he bought had the automatic 3 spd option so even though it was badged 442 it was really a 432!
Damned thing would move. I swear I was responsible for a couple of sets of tires wearing out prematurely and I swear you could see the gas gauge shake when you nailed the pedal.
Is that why I love my C63? Seeds planted in my 20's?
