Some times the obvious escapes us so don't laugh your *** off at this suggestion but if there is one thing I have learned over the years, there is no mystery to why MB makes life difficult so here goes.
Put the key in the slot and turn it to the detent just before start.
Using the buttons on the steering wheel scroll right to Settings, scroll down to Convenience and look for FOLD MIRRORS ON LOCKING. If it shows Disabled change it to ENABLED back out of it. Remove the key and test it outside the car. If that don't work remember that I warned you it was a WAG answer (wild *** guess).

Here is the dumb question I should have asked first.
On the mirror adjusting button in the door can you fold them from there?
If so just try cycling them a couple of times in and out.
I just remembered I read something on the SLK forum about resetting them after a battery disconnect a few years ago.
If not I am interested to watch how it all "unfolds"

Thx for trying to help man.
But I think you're misunderstanding haha...My car is a 2009 and thus was not equipped with folding mirrors. I purchased folding mirrors from Matt and got the oem switch panel, but the computer needs to be reprogrammed to enable that function.

No worries. As I said, a WAG all the way.
Have you called MBUSA for help on this? I have on occasion got help from the tech folk in Toronto and MBUSA from years of ownership always seems better than MBC at times.
