Wow. I think my shop took about 8-9 hours to install and it cost me $900 for install I think. That was in Virginia Beach.

I'm in the group buy for the FI headers. I was quoted 400 to install.

Headers do make upwards of 40whp. My base dyno with ROW and sec-cat delete was 380whp. After tune 442whp. After headers 485whp.

Similar story for me too. Gosh that was a painful installation bill to settle. Mine was £1000GBP on the dot, inc brief retune. Ouch!

What about just replacing the primary cats? Armytrix offers catless downpipes.

I'm going to have to call BS on that. Any shop who is willing to lowball themselves by charging $350 for a full exhaust disassembly and installation will go out of business. That is just a stupid business model to actually lose money on an install. There is no way to do that install in only 2-3 hours.

C63fora2w1: How did the car perform after the 3" system was installed? Thinking of doing compete 3" from headers straight with no x w/center resonators and hi flow muff's.

He didn't do a 3" system for a C63 for $300. I can tell you that right now with 100% certainty. He's talking about a totally different car as an example. It's just not relevant.

for the people saying they can get a header and exhaust install on these cars for 300-400, I would have to say that the shop hasn't actually had a look at the vehicle in the metal.

I have the MBH header set up and the difference is definitely noticeable after the install.

I never threw any codes after the install and I have not done the tune yet, but it is coming soon.

Header install on these cars is time consuming, and therefore costly.
But it's definitely worth it.

BLKROKT is correct It was not a c63 but that being said most of the systems for sale are 2.75, you may see a bit more on the top end with a 3in system while sacrificing some lower end tq but a car making 550-600 on motor could probably use the extra pipe diameter. It all depends on your mods..

I paid 550 for my mbh headers mid and x pipe install. 4-5 hour job pretty standard if the shop knows what they are doing. Guys that are paying 1k sorry but your over paying.

When I read this I think of 2 things.

1. - Your shop Have no idea what they are getting into.
2. - You have no Idea what you are talking about.

So along this line of thinking if I charge you $1000 I must know what I am doing. Just because something is expensive doesn't mean it's going to be right. On the flip side if you find a good local shop that has been in business forever and you have established a good relationship with and you get good pricing that doesn't make them unqualified.

Were not talking about if something is expensive or not. You stated a price that is a 3rd of what majority of the owners of C63's with LTH's have paid to have there headers installed. 50+ owners experience compared to a fairly new member.

Not doubting your installers cost, I'm doubting there knowledge because the cost does not reflect the time required to install headers on a C63.

Unless the shop rate is $30.00 / Hour. or its a back yard buddy doing you a favor. Few members have tackled the install on there own and they can also chime in with the experience.

Great pricing still doesn't resolve the issue that it takes 5-8 hours to install the headers. You haven't installed a set of headers or have the knowledge of the true labor hours, yet you pretend to be an expert on the installation costs...

So for giggles and grins I made a phone call today to double check since it has been a few years since I last had headers installed. I was quoted $500 with a 10% military discount. SO $450 out the door. If you want to fact check me call em.

Top Gun is going to regret giving you that quote. Get it in writing. Because it's going to take them at least 2x as long as they think. And if they don't know what they're talking about, I'd be worried that they'll **** it up. Because that's easy to do too. Good luck with that. I know I love people who don't know what they're doing wrenching on my car.
