Front Swaybar Bushing removal

Front swaybar bushings. How do you get them off?? I have the brackets off, and bent the metal tabs out of way but the 2 pieces will not come apart. I want to take them off to lube them, the bar will not spin in the bushings and I am getting a hell or a clanking noise from the front end.

Looks like this

The bushings are bonded to the sway bar and likely to the brackets as far as I can tell. I have never tried to take them apart but noticed the bar did not turn when the end links were removed and I tried to move it. I don't think you can take them apart and lubricate them.

Your clanking noise is likely coming from the ball joints in your end links. Check them for play.

Ok thanks. The ball joints seem fine, twist but no play. It sounds like a metal on metal contact when hitting bumps. I see no marks under the car and nothing is loose. I took the suspension out again, (it's got H&R springs) and am reinstalling just to rule any of that out. The springs have been on for about 6 months but just within the last week started hearing this noise. It's very prominent.

Well after putting everything back together and going for a test drive the issue is gone. I guess we will see if it returns. Nothing was loose and I saw no signs of metal rubbing or hitting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No clunk now is good.

Hope it stays that way.

Sometimes that is the way it goes. You never see the problem but the issue goes away. If it comes back check your top hats carefully and that your springs are properly seated.
