Looking for a C63... Any buying advice?
Hi everyone! First post on here but I have lurked this forum many times. The C63 AMG is an amazing car and I am planning to purchase one in the future.
I am looking for a 2012-2015 Coupe hopefully in Black with under 20Kish miles.
I would love for everyone to give me any advice as to what to look out for while I begin my search. What packages/options etc as well as any maintenance i should be aware of.
Thank you in advance for any help!

Buy a 12+ to avoid issues the PFL car suffered from. P31, and LSD are probably the two options you wanna make sure you have. Otherwise just have money for tires. These cars are reliable as far as sports cars go unless you abuse it like an idiot. Get a warranty if you can just in case.

Lol I completely forgot about the lighting package. Yeah this one was a make or break for me. Still can't believe bi-xenons don't come standard on these. Also the illuminated door sills if you can get them. I mean quite frankly just get the car with the most options and the best color scheme you like. That's really all there is to it.

I also think the LSD is a must have, the P31 package wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, power is the same once you put a tune on it and the brakes are the same calipers just painted red with the 1.5 piece rotors which can be added if you wanted, but most people unless doing track duty downgrade to the regular rotors which are $500 less per rotor when they need brakes.

As a counter point you can tune a regular C63 up to the level of a P31 and add an LSD. The rotors are lighter, but you won't notice any difference on the street. I say this because it will be hard to find a black car with P31/LSD and under 20K miles.

$$$$$$$$ to upgrade is the issue and I don't know about your neck of the woods but black is not that hard to find. There is a wrap option I guess.

Not just $$ to upgrade but internals from p31 can better handle the increased load. Leads to better reliability versus a non p31 that's max tuned and bolted on.

Neither of these have a factory LSD?
Can a 481hp P31 handle the increased load more than the M156 engines that came in 518hp form in the E63 (and other cars) without the SLS internals?
For the record, my car is P31 and factory LSD, but these you NEED p31, you NEED LSD posts are just silly. I'm gonna make up a number here and say less than 10% of C63 have both just from seeing datacards valvestud posts all the time.

The OP can do what ever he wants with his money but for me those items were deal breakers and I managed to find the exact car i wanted. If only 10% have those specs how much more special is my car. Think of them more as highly recommended than can't live withouts... but if the OP is patient and willing to travel for the right car his "perfect" car is out there waiting for him.

2012 P31 C63 Coupe Trackrat, 2019 GLE63S Coupe Beast
P31, Black, coupe, CPO, carbon pack, and LSD. Those were my must-haves, and when I looked for my car in 2014 there were 2 available in the country. The more "must-haves" on your list, the smaller the % of cars available that happened to be optioned that way. I wouldn't let lack of an LSD stand in the way of the right car, as there are plenty of aftermarket options. Same for carbon interior. The P31 was the only real dealbreaker for me as it can't be retrofit economically, and I knew that I would highly value the forged internal bits.

This one is pretty close, 28K miles.

If I were gonna spend 50K+ I'd look at some 507s as well and agreed on consider adding an aftermarket LSD. The factory LSD really narrows down the available cars (as we've already seen once in this thread).

I wouldn't consider an LSD as a deal breaker. As others have said, aftermarket LSDs are plentiful and work well. Plus it gives you an excuse to add the finned diff cooler too!
My list if I did it again:
Keyless go, P31 or P61, lighting package, new headbolts.

I don't know man. That recent scare with someone who was supposedly outside the threat zone but ended up having old headbolts would make me push for a facelift car. Or get a good pre-FL and use the money saved for the headbolt job.

What do you currently drive and what do you want to be different in your new car? Will you track the car or will it be a daily driver, or both? Are you ok with having a disproportionately high vehicular carbon footprint? Do you like blower engines or naturally aspirated? Are you morally opposed to breaking the speed limit laws and/or unnerving other drivers? Does your neighborhood have strict sound ordinances?
These are some of the questions I would ask before offering targeted suggestions.
Thanks
Kris
